This is one of the most famous hikes in Norway. It is one of the most difficult ones as well. The day we went was very foggy. Please check the weather conditions on Kjerag Facebook page and they update it regularly. Most important things to remember, proper clothing, shoes, enough water (you can fill it up from the stream) food, sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat and more importantly follow the 'T' mark and it is well marked throughout the hike. We went with a group of friends and we all hiked on our own pace, some were pro hikers and they took around 5 hours back and forth. We were not pro and we took 10 hours back and forth. We stayed at a cabin nearby and drove to the parking lot. There are safety instructors in the parking and will give instructions to you about the hike, you can ask any questions you have about hiking. There is a small shop where you can rent shoes, jackets etc. There is a toilet, restaurant (French fries 🍟are yummy) a view point, souvenir shop. You start your hike, at first it's easy then start the real hike. Some places there are chains to hold and climb, you can also take off beat path on the side which was easy for us rather than holding onto the chains. There are 3 mountains which you ascend and descend, last part is very tricky with a little water fall and there is this amazing Kjeragbolten. You can also go and stand on the top of this rock 🪨 . There is also an emergency house on the top which is really nice, 20 people can use this place in case of emergency. The whole way was fun and we took lots of breaks to catch breath and eat, take pictures. Weather was not too bad, we had fog, sun, drizzled, clouds when we were at the Kjeragbolten it was very foggy, was hard to take pictures standing on the rock. There were some people sitting on the rock and posing, standing etc. I didn't dare to go on the rock ( which I regret today) I love in Norway and I can do this next time. It was a great day and one thing done on my bucket list. Enjoy your hike by staying safe and take your time. Enjoy the beautiful breathtaking view of Norway. It is a very...
Read moreHard route, you have to start early to finish in time. There are 3x hills that you have to hike up and down two times (once while coming back). Takes 6 hours at least. You do not have to follow the made route as it is very hard. You can find much easier options if you look around. (Sometimes just a few meters). You can even skip the fist hill backwards (go to the right side of it from the stairs). The weather can be tough to beat, but you cannot plan everything... Restaurant closes early so make sure you have your own food. Also buy your magnets and souveniers before the trip. You will need it at the end. There is a restroom (not just in the restaurant). Keep looking for the route on the top as it is easy to miss it and you can get far away by accident. The view is terrifying from the rock. Never seen anything like that before. Definitely...
Read more💥I just want to share this 💥 If you are going in the mountains please beware that this is tough terrain ⛰️ do follow tracks and don't go off, it's so easy to stuck due to the hard climbing or downhill, for a good trained person this will be hard if you get lost. Do not trust maps to get you down, so be aware of this before the trip if it's necessary. Don't trust your eyes on those steep downhills, they are not worth the risk, il add some photo. Seems like you can get down but suddenly you find yourself on a shelf with a long drop, the return is so hard so don't even try.
I was lucky 😇 we have a fantastic rescue team that found me with a helicopter 🚁 I was not lost but I trusted the maps and went off trails, did try to get down but that was impossible.
Anyway it's beautiful up there 😍...
