It certainly looks very nice but it really is a lot of money for basically nothing. We paid almost 300kr to go ‘inside’, but it’s just ruined walls. There isn’t anything else. You could have a guide, but we just missed it, as far as I could see though the guided tour did not include access into the turrets which have closed doors. Why can’t they be opened and it be more of a museum? There were some cool underground rooms you could explore, need a light to see because it’s pitch black. But they’re just empty storage rooms. Other than that, I’m not kidding, you could be in and out in 15mins. I think the local kommune should pay for its upkeep and make it free to the public.

The road driving down towards the castle is only skinny enough for one car so you need to stop at wait zones. Fine if it’s quiet but stressful if not, especially with huge campervans during summer.

All in all, unless you’re gonna have a picnic and a swim I’d say it’s not...

A nice historic castle from the 15th century. It was the last point that made Norway catholic. When ghis castle fell Norway became Protestant. The castle as it is now is estimated to be only 1/3 of its original size, since the local farmers and others have during the 16th, 17yh and 18th cenrutry have stolen the stones. I recomend taking the guided tour, since that will grant more information and lets you explore the inside of the castle.

As of 23.07.20 the price for adults for the guided...

A great place to visit. We didn't do the guided tour but paid to get in. Especially our 12yo enjoyed exploring the rooms,us adults loved the view and the dog was happy to walk with us.

The parking could be paid for 200 meters before the parking area in a cute little shop with self service. Could have been a nice spot to stay the night with the campervan too (small parking fee).

Note that the place is only open for some 6...

Nice spot with beautiful views of the Trondheim Fjord. Lots of tables for a picnic. Parking is 30kr and overnight parking is 200kr, both payable by Vipps. The grounds are open all year and there is a path you can take, part of it ‘unofficial’, all the way round the fort. The fort itself is only open from 1st July to 15th August, when there are tours available.
