Preikestolen hiking starting point — Attraction in Strand

First of all, I would like to start by saying that it is a very artificial hike. I think there are very smooth roads made of stone to be accessed by everyone, signs every 50m, wooden bridges, there are even wooden boards there so that people do not pass through the mud. (: Nevertheless, there are many people who come with open-toed shoes and hold on to each other, so it is useful to bring proper clothing and equipment.

Another issue is the flies... I have never encountered such a sticky and biting army of flies in my life. It is incredibly uncomfortable and it is better to go in the evening.

Also, because it is very touristic, there are people lining up to take a photo at the arrival point, so I have mixed feelings about this...

Nice hike to share with a friend and a few thousand of your closest global strangers. Very scenic walk, tough but not impossible. Plenty of room to take it slowly and enjoy it all, should you need. If you're from Vancouver. This is similar to The Chief, but less staircases as the beginning. Can do this in trainers (snow permitting, of which there's none at the moment) but notice there are a few slippery rocks and wet patches to be aware of. Few photos to see an idea of the trail for your own judgement of footwear...

Der Weg rauf zum preikestollen ist nicht so leicht aber schaffbar wir haben die Tour mit einer 6 jährigen gemacht. Der Weg wird mit 4km pro Tour angegeben und wir haben rauf und runter gut 5 Stunden gebraucht. Wir sind aber auch oft angehalten im ne Pause zu machen oder irgendwas zu fotografieren.

Festes wasserdichtes Schuhwerk mit gutem Profil ist zu empfehlen. Genauso wie man unbedingt bedenken muss das sich das Wetter dort oben von einer Sekunde auf die nächste ändern kann.

Leider hatten wir einen Recht trüben Tag erwischt (obwohl wir bei strahlendem Sonnenschein gestartet sind) somit war die Aussicht ganz oben eher begrenzt aber dennoch echt beeindruckend. Auch auf dem Weg haben sich immer wieder schöne Aussichten geboten Für uns war es eine tolle Erfahrung.

Negativ Punkte wären für uns:

Oben ist nichts abgesichert und leider lassen sich viele zur Leichtsinnigkeit verleiten. Die Befürchtung "gleich stürzt da jemand runter" und wir müssen das mit ansehen war sehr present.

Es geht den selben Weg rauf wir es auch runter geht und es war wirklich voll auf dem schmalen wegen. Grade bei nicht abgesicherten schmalen steilen Steintreppen ist das schon echt grenzwertig.

Es ist eben ein Touristenort und dem entsprechend viel Publikumsverkehr herrscht da auch. Wer lieber für sich wandert sollte lieber wo anders hingehen. In Norwegen gibt es ja genug...
