The scenic Bletoppen is the highest peak of Blefjell, a mountain ridge between the Numedal valley and the Tinnsjø lake in Telemark. Coniferous forest in several places overcomes the elevation of 1000 m and it creates a forest border instead of birch trees in many places. Above this almost surreal effect of white rocks and stone blocks rises. The area through which the tourist route passes is part of a protected area where, as one of the few places in Norway, a mandatory shooting hunting license was introduced in 1970. This led to the fact that for several years there was no hunting at all here. By the end of the eighties of the last century, the status of wild reindeer in Blefjell reached up to 300 pieces. So it was the largest herd of wild reindeer in southern Norway. In 2016, there were 180 animals, of which 40 were allowed to be hunted with the licence. We did not encounter wild reindeer here, but we found the ideal camping spot next to the Fallsjå lake where we enjoyed a barbecue, a night swim and a romantic sunset at 11 PM.
