I am 34 years old and decently fit and so is my wife. It still took us about five hours to go up and down when you took some breaks we stopped for water. Soft photos stopped at the lake. Stopped at the top.
I would rate this as a fairly technical hike, almost as technical as you could get as far as hiking goes without needing ropes and gear. At the start of you’re required to climb a large folder popping from Boulder to Boulder with a 10 to 15 foot drop After you clear the bouldering stage. It’s a almost normal hike to get up until after the lake then it gets quite steep and you’re on a mixture of small rocks and medium size rocks, which can be slippery requiring both hands.. once you then get up to the peak. There’s a bit of a technical area that I saw numerous people not get to the peak even though they’ve gone 99% of the way. Today was great. Make sure you bring snacks and water and just take your time to make sure you don’t get slip or anything.
On the hiking board at the parking at the bottom of the hill, it also has a GoFundMe to make the trail safe as it says, as I am emphasizing it’s a little bit dodgy and sketchy in areas . We haven’t saw another person back at the very start as we started as I think they thought they could traverse the large rocks, but they realize they couldn’t and as another hiker mention, it doesn’t get any easier as they end up turning around just be safe I...
Read moreI would say it’s a hard climb. At least it was for me. I’m also scared of heights and some parts of the trail were really bad for me. I don’t usually get that when hiking. That’s how steep this climb is. Note that I’m not a climber or a mountaineer but I have experience in hiking fells.
Beginning of the route is not well marked and requires to navigate on big boulders. Then it gets steeper and some parts of the route are really steep. I was climbing few parts on all fours. Surface can be slippery and you need to watch your step every time. Losing balance can be serious since there are cliffs and steep hills with rocks around.
Definitely not for children or when it’s wet.
The views are amazing and there’s a pond up in the hills so maybe take your swimming...
Read moreTrail starts with climb over massive boulders, was unexpected, but still we managed to pass it. At this time of the year the trail was wet and muddy at the start you have to climb via small water streams. After reaching the lake you can either go to right for town and bay views or continue to the left and climb via rocks to the higher point. Path is not very clear but you can see yellowish stones that pretty much is the path to the top. Sadly clouds descended quickly at the top so was no point to continue further. But still...
