Setesdal, one of the most unique places in Norway where traditions and culture are present in every day life. The folks here are very proud of their heritage. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Setesdal museum did not portray the beauty of this UNESCO region. I felt the museum lacked viking findings (which have been plenty), a stav kyrkja that once stood in Valle, the unique and interesting setesdal dialect, the folklore pertaining to old farms and and stories from the old times, history and knowledge about the architecture/construction of the old farm buildings which still stand today and in many houses in which families still live in, the folk music scene here as well. I only saw one sword that was displayed as a finding from the Viking age. The souvenir shop lacked shirts, caps or sweater merchandise or more things special to Setesdal. Luckily I had done my research long before I came here so I at least had some more insight on the region and what makes it stand out from the...
