Sultanate of Oman portraits fantastic history and culture to the world , and this country is so fertile and rich in culture as well. Before saying abuout Nakhal , Omanis are the worlds best Arab's i have seen ever. They are very polite and welcoming .

Nakhal and Nakhal fort is 20 Minutes (not more that this at present road condition) from Barka . Take a left exit from muscat and drive straight through the fantastic road to Nakhal , which gives you fantastic driving experience on Oman road. Beware of speed indicator kept on road side and follow exactly what Oman road demands, if not , you will be fined cruely.

Get your own snacks or buy some from your choices at Lulu Barka or any shops on its way. Don't wait till you reach Nakhal for a fine shopping. That may lead you utter disappointment.

Entry ticket charges applied to get in to the fort and follow the exact time mentioned in google . No hard restrictions to take photographs , I suggest not to disturb the equipments and the show pieces. Read the whole history which displayed over the entrance wall and walkthrough. Its always the rememberance , if you buy something from fort, that will value a lot.

If you visit Nakhal fort , then next interest spot will be Hot Springs. Don't forget to take your swimming trunks, that will help you. And the water is lukewarm and some days its hot enough to dip yourself. Natural fish pedicure , thats the interesting things for ladies who reach there and the if there is not so much of water around, you may have a walk through the...

Nakhal Fort is truly one of the must-visit historical landmarks in Oman. Located in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains and palm trees, the fort offers a unique glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country. Though the fort itself is not very large compared to others, it is incredibly well-maintained and beautifully restored, showcasing traditional Omani architecture and design in every detail.

Walking through the different rooms and levels of the fort, you can see how thoughtfully it has been decorated to reflect Oman’s past. Each section gives insight into the life and history of the region, including exhibits on local traditions, weapons, and everyday life from centuries ago. It's a great spot for history lovers and photographers alike.

One of the best parts of the visit is going up to the rooftop, where the view of the surrounding landscape is absolutely breathtaking. You can see the lush greenery of the date farms, the rugged mountains, and the peaceful town below. It’s also not overly crowded, which makes the visit more relaxing and enjoyable.

My experience at Nakhal Fort was amazing and memorable. I will definitely go there again and highly recommend it to anyone...

A wonderful historical landmark situated around 80 to 90 km from Muscat City. Situated close to the mountain ranges, the view from the top of the Fort is spectacular. We visited the place on a weekday and the place was not crowded at all. Can easily spend atleast an hour and a half enjoying the fort, the landscape around and if you are into photography. The entry to the Fort is 2 OMR for adult and kids above 7 years of age. Right now there is no cafe inside the Fort so don't forget to carry plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated. There is ample car parking near the Fort and toilets are also available in the premises next to the parking. We tourists / residents must do our part to put the trash in the bins provided and not to litter the toilet area ( 🙄 ). There are cafes on the streets across the Fort for a quick...

Any visitor traveling through Oman will no doubt notice the characteristic sight of palm groves covering the landscape of the most towns. This is especially true in the town of Nakhal (نــخــل) in the South Batinah region, about 100 kms from Muscat, which is most famous for its numerous date palm groves that the town derives its name from. These palm groves cover the entire view of Nakhal against a backdrop of the Western Hajar Mountains presenting a beautiful landscape, and the best place to view this is from Nakhal Fort. The fort is located prominently on top a rocky hill, and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Nakhal and the surrounding date palms.

I visited many forts in various regions during my time in Oman. Nakhal is not the largest, oldest or most significant but it was definitely the quietest. Luckily I was there on the right time summer midweek so I had the whole Fort almost all to myself. Oman has a long history of defending against intruders so you'll find forts/fortress in almost every town. Nakhal Fort's foundations were laid down in 7th century before they converted to Islam but the walls and rest of the building was added much later.
