Magical…!!! Darbat Step Waterfalls is indeed one of the best waterfalls in Salalah, Oman. It's known for its beautiful cascades and clear, pristine water. During the peak season, from July mid to the end of August, the water flow at Darbat Step Waterfalls is typically at its fullest. This period coincides with the monsoon season in Salalah, known as the Khareef season, when the region experiences a unique phenomenon of misty rains and lush greenery. This time is particularly enchanting, as the waterfalls are abundant, and the surrounding landscape is transformed into a picturesque paradise. In addition to admiring the waterfalls, visitors can also enjoy boating in the surrounding area. Boating allows you to explore the nearby streams and enjoy the serene natural beauty of Salalah from a different perspective.
Even in June, you could still see water falls. Be ready to get wet and little climbing on some rocks to get the best photos. With the instructions and control by the life guards and Omani Police, the place gives a better and enjoyable moment. You should arrive early in the morning, otherwise you can get stuck in a traffic jam and it will be too crowded. The boat ride is 5 riyals. After visiting here if you go straight for one more kilometer, then you can find another place with river, big and lengthy boat ride, camping area with horse ride etc.
The only drawback is litter scattered around the place. I cannot understand such stupid people who spoil such a beautiful natural place like this. Please do not litter and please keep...
Read moreI have visited Wadi Darbat during my vacation with my family. The mountains are incredibly lush green and on such a high altitude that makes you think how could anything survive up that high? Me and my family loved driving along the mountain even though it was quite scary as the mountains don’t have railings on them. As we were driving up the mountain, we couldn’t see anything because of the fog. The fog was so dense that you could only see a few feet in front of you! I would recommend taking full caution of driving at that time. Wanting to make the most out of this vacation we decided to see the place Salalah is best known for, Wadi Darbat. We were prepared for the journey, but we definitely weren’t prepared for the crowd that we were going to get into. Of course, it was expected as Salalah is the best this time of year we would have quite a crowd, but it was quite frustrating trying to find a parking space especially with it raining. However, once we saw the waterfalls it was very wroth it and we couldn’t get enough of the sights. There are also snack/gift shops and horse rides you could participate in. There are a couple of viewpoints to take photos in which give you the view of the whole city below. You can also take your family on boat rides and take pretty pictures. All in all, this place is a must for making more memories with loved ones and is an enjoyable experience for people of all ages with the...
Read moreDarbat Step Waterfalls – Nature’s Staircase in Dhofar
On my recent road trip through Dhofar, I stumbled upon a place that honestly felt like it was straight out of a travel magazine — the Darbat Step Waterfalls. Imagine a staircase made by nature, where each “step” is a little waterfall pouring into a clear turquoise pool. That’s exactly what it looked like.
The drive there was half the fun, winding roads, green hills, and that fresh Dhofar air. As soon as I got close, the sound of water instantly made me slow down and just… take it in. It wasn’t crowded, which made it even better. I could actually hear the birds, the wind in the trees, and the water rushing over the rocks.
I walked along the small trails, stopping to dip my feet in the cool water, and found a couple of spots where you can just sit and watch the falls from up close. The sunlight through the trees made the whole place glow , it was pure peace.
If you’re ever in Dhofar, especially in Khareef season, don’t miss this spot. It’s not just a waterfall, it’s a little...
