Nabi Umran or (Prophet Imran) Tomb is located in Salalah City. It is one of the popular mausoleum in Dhofar and Oman.
Who is Nabi Umran?
Well, this is a very important question and there is no certain answer to it. Nabi Imran can be any one of the following:
The name of the father of Nabi Musa (Prophet Moses) is Imran. He could be that Imran.
The name of the grand father of Nabi Issa (Prophet Jesus) i.e. the father of Hazrat Marium (Marry) is Imran. He could be that Imran.
He could be any other Prophet of any other time.
As per Rough Guide to Oman, he is a Yemeni divine in the 14th century. If that’s the case, he cannot be a prophet as the last Prophet in Islam is Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him in 7th century.
And Allah knows the best.
One of The longest Grave in the World The Tomb of Nabi Umran is quite famous, mainly for the extraordinary length, making it one of the longest graves in the world. The length is around 12 meters. There are a number of things to consider with this long length:
Some people says that he was very tall. If you see the length of the tomb and compare it with its width, you will notice that it’s very narrow. If he was tall, he would be wide also, so this claim doesn’t look quite logical. In continuation of the above point, the other Tombs in Salalah, of Prophet Ayub and Prophet Saleh are not so wide. Seemingly these 2 Prophets were before Nabi Umran in time. Some people say that the exact location of the grave is not known and thats why the entire area is considered as a tomb. As per Rough guide to Oman, the entire family is buried from head to toe instead side by side. And Allah knows the best.
The Outside of the Tomb The tomb is simple from outside. Looks like a normal building and unlike other tombs in Salalah, it doesn’t have a dome. It is a rectangular building with small windows.
There is a garden outside the mausoleum, with grass and a large tree in the entrance.
Mosque of Nabi Imran There is a mosque on the North side of the Tomb, where there are daily prayers as per Islamic principles. Muslims pray 5 times a day in congregation.
Where is Nabi Imran Tomb? The tomb is next to Haffa House Hotel. This is one of the famous hotels in Salalah.
A very popular landmark is present at a walking distance of the tomb – Burj Al Nahdah. Since there is not many landmarks in Salalah, this tower is one of the landmarks...
