Turtuk Village, nestled in the majestic landscape of Ladakh, is a hidden gem that whispers tales of a bygone era. Located on the banks of the Shyok River, this quaint village is the last outpost of India before the Pakistan border. As you wander through its narrow alleys, you'll discover a unique blend of Tibetan and Balti cultures, reflected in the warm smiles of its inhabitants and the rustic charm of its wooden houses. The village is surrounded by towering mountains, their rugged beauty softened by the lush greenery of apricot orchards and the gentle rustle of willow trees.

Turtuk's strategic location has made it an important stopover for traders and travelers since ancient times. The village is dotted with ancient monasteries, mosques, and temples, each telling a story of its rich history. The villagers, known for their hospitality, welcome visitors with open arms, offering a glimpse into their simple yet rich way of life. As you explore the village, you'll come across ancient artifacts, traditional handicrafts, and local cuisine that will leave you enchanted.

With its surreal vistas, Turtuk Village is a trekker's paradise, offering breathtaking views of the Karakoram range and the majestic Nubra Valley. As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the village, you'll feel the serenity and timelessness of this enchanting corner of Ladakh. Turtuk Village is a must-visit destination for those seeking an immersive experience in the unspoiled beauty and rich culture of Ladakh. Its untouched charm and warm hospitality will leave you with memories to...

Can be tough to find the trail (was here in April after some rain and snow washed a lot out). But it’s a beautiful area to just hike around with the graveyard, monastery, river and mountains. Saw the mosque way up there but it looked like a scramble to get to. The signs and online maps were not helpful or accurate, and asking people just led them to point in the general direction. Worth trying to check out, but bring lots of water and a hat! Can take an hour or two or more to try and find the waterfall but the hike to the monastery and graveyard is...

This is a nice hike, with a few sections thst are risky. The path is washed out with a very long drop in two sections after the mosque

You begin in the small village above Turtuk and follow the well defined path up to the small mosque on the cliffs above town. From the mosque there is only one path to follow to the left. This path is along a water canal the whole way. Very easy to follow!

The waterfall at the end is peaceful and cold.

Toward September and October it is low flow.

Wear sunscreen, bring lots of water and be prepared for the...

The most enjoyable part is the drive to Turtuk. You would enjoy the day. If you want to shorten the trip, the time you spend at Turtuk Village, can be reduced a bit.
