A Five-Star Escape to Kalam Valley: Where Nature's Majesty Meets Warm Hospitality My recent 3-day trip to Kalam Valley was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the breathtaking scenery, the towering snow-capped peaks, and the lush green valleys. But what truly elevated my experience was the warmth and hospitality of the local people. Day 1: Arrival and Exploration Upon arrival in Kalam, I was greeted with smiles and open arms. The locals were eager to share their stories and offer recommendations for the best places to visit. I spent the day exploring the charming town, visiting the local bazaar, and taking in the panoramic views from the hilltop viewpoint. The evening was spent enjoying a delicious traditional dinner at a local restaurant, where I was treated to live music and engaging conversations with the friendly staff. Day 2: Into the Heart of Nature The second day was dedicated to exploring the natural wonders of Kalam Valley. I hired a local guide who took me on a scenic trek through the Usho Forest, a dense forest teeming with wildlife and stunning waterfalls. We then visited the majestic Mahodand Lake, a glacial lake surrounded by towering mountains. The beauty of these natural landscapes was simply awe-inspiring. Day 3: Farewell Kalam On my final day, I visited the serene Saifullah Lake, another gem nestled amidst the mountains. I spent some time reflecting on my incredible journey, savoring the tranquility and the crisp mountain air. As I prepared to leave, I was overwhelmed by the warmth and genuine hospitality of the people of Kalam. They had made my trip truly unforgettable. Five-Star Highlights: Breathtaking Scenery: Kalam Valley is a visual feast, with its snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and serene lakes. Warm Hospitality: The locals are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and eager to share their culture and stories. Delicious Food: The local cuisine is a must-try, with its flavorful dishes and fresh ingredients. Adventure Awaits: Whether you're into trekking, hiking, or simply exploring, Kalam Valley offers something for everyone. A Special Shout-out: I would like to extend a special thanks to the people of Kalam for their incredible hospitality. Their warmth and kindness made my trip truly special. I highly recommend Kalam Valley to anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable travel experience. My Verdict: Kalam Valley is a hidden gem that deserves to be explored. It's a place where nature's majesty meets warm hospitality, creating an experience that will stay with you long after you leave. I give it a...

Usho Forest, located about 8 kilometers from Kalam town in Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a breathtaking natural escape surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Hindu Kush Range. Sitting at an elevation of approximately 2,300 meters (7,500 feet), this alpine forest is renowned for its dense canopy of deodar, pine, and fir trees, crystal-clear streams, and serene atmosphere that attracts travelers, nature enthusiasts, and photographers year-round. The journey to Usho Forest is an adventure itself, as the rugged, unpaved road from Kalam runs alongside the gurgling Ushu River, passing through lush meadows and offering scenic mountain views, making a 4x4 vehicle highly recommended, especially in the monsoon or winter season. Named after the small Usho village at its entrance, the forest also serves as the gateway to Mahodand Lake, one of Pakistan’s most famous alpine lakes. The charm of Usho Forest lies in its pristine and untouched beauty—sunlight filters through the tall trees in golden rays, early mornings are filled with mist and birdsong, and the soothing sound of the river creates a magical sense of tranquility. Camping, nature walks, and photography are popular activities, while wildlife lovers may spot monkeys, foxes, and various bird species in the area. Adding to its appeal is the local Kohistani and Gujjar culture, where villagers live a simple mountain lifestyle in wooden houses, graze their cattle, and often welcome visitors with tea and stories of life in the highlands. Despite the rise in tourism, Usho Forest still retains its unspoiled charm, and responsible travel is essential to protect its fragile ecosystem—visitors are encouraged to carry their waste back, avoid disturbing wildlife, and respect local traditions. For those seeking a peaceful retreat, adventure, or simply the chance to experience nature at its finest, Usho Forest, along with nearby attractions like Mahodand Lake and Matiltan, offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of northern Pakistan’s...

I have no doubt to say that the usho forest was an heaven on earth unless the pathetic Pakistani people entered there. I have visited this place in the year 2010 after end of taliban control and at that time it was very neat, clean and lush green. I have also visited this place 5 years ago and the result was the same because behran to kalam road was is worst condition. Then the government reconstructed the road in order to promote tourism and the beggining of the end of usho forest started. On 16/06/2022 i have again visited this place and returned with heavy heart and disappointment. The so called some educated people of Pakistan have spread trash every where they have access. The local also have contribution in ruining this beautiful place by installing camps. I request every citizen of Pakistan that this forest as well as other tourist attraction places are not only our asset but these places are the assets our comming generation till dooms day, so be a responsible citizen of Pakistan and do not spread trash in this beautiful place and put in trash box installed by...

Usho (also spelled Ushu) is a hill station in Usho Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
