I love this place . It is a very beautiful place having Meadows forest and two lakes one with a name of chota katora lake while other with a name of katora lake . There you can glacier and many more things . One point that you need to know is make sure take everything with yourself mean food etc because you will buy the most expensive there frrom locals . Also you need to take a camping equipment with yourselves . There are two ways to katora from swat . One way is direct from kalam side which is the shortest but expensive one because you have to pay alot of money to the jeeps there and also an alternative way which is I think longer one but less expensive and that is traveling from Dir side.

Katora Lake Height (11,500 feet/3,500 m from Sea level) Kumrat Valley is a high frosty lake situated at the upper ranges of Jahaz Banda. The region of the Upper Dir District of KPK. Due to this, you will witness the crystal clear greenish climate of the lake. The word Katora signifies “bowl” in Pashto (bowl-shaped). Mostly people think about the Katora Lake hike in Pakistan. First of all, a 4 to 5-hour trek from Thal village to Jahaz Banda. After all, trekkers stay at camps under the billion stars of Jahaz Banda Meadows. The very next day, a 3 to 4-hour trek to the Lake one-sided. How to Reach Katora Lake: So just returned from one of the most hectic trips ever (mainly due to time shortage) I thought why not right some wrongs one might face while traveling there? Our target was to attempt the Katora Lake trek, Jahaz Banda, and its vicinity and after that explore the ever-beautiful Kumrat valley. • It takes you about 7 hrs. to reach near Upper Dir so if you have left it late your first stop should be in Upper Dir. (you can easily find hotels there for a reasonable night stay around 2000-3000). • Moreover, From Dir one must go back about 8.8Km precisely where you could find “Bab-e-Kumrat” which would take you to Sheringal Town. (approx. travelling time 3:00 hrs.) The road is in relatively good condition however there are a few bad patches though. • In Addition, From Sheringal it would take around 3-4 hrs. depending on the condition of your vehicle to reach Thal (a kind of base camp for everything in that valley). Road condition is also okay here. • From Thal one can hire Jeeps to do either Jahaz Banda or Kumrat Valley. It is advisable to leave your vehicles in Thal. Jeeps Fare from Thal to Jahaz Banda Lake: Thal Jeeps or 4×4 vehicles can take you to the highest point Taki Top from where the actual trek for Jahaz Banda starts. The jeep’s fare or charges from Thal to Taki Top Jahaz Banda Meadows and back to Thal range between Rs.10000 to Rs.12000 with 1 or 2-night stays at...

Jaz Banda is a place when it reveals its full face to you after you come up, for a moment, you might not believe that you are actually here. Since we hiked through the night, it astounded us in the morning when we woke up and unzipped our tent.
This is one of the many heavens in the north of Pakistan. It is an all-in-one spot. Fresh water lakes, plenty waterfalls, snow-dotted mountains, enthralling meadows, chilling cold in the middle of summer, opportunity of extensive hikes, clear streams, thick forests, grazing grounds, light rains (fortunately or unfortunately), and a chance to witness milkyway at night (if you are lucky). All at a height of 3100m. Every nook and corner pleases your sight. Literally every nook and corner.
How do you come here? It is in Dir Kohistan. From Thal you take left to Kumrat. But don't take left, come straight and take a right and you will reach here. A point, Takki Banda, Jandri, comes where your vehicle, even 4x4, loses it and you will have to fend for yourself. From that point, there is 3-5 hours hike, depending upon you. Locals do it in 1-2 hours.
Jaz Banda itself is an attraction. But from here, there are sites you must not miss. From the Jaz Bands top, there is another 2-4 hours hike to Kathora Lake. If you go to Jaz Banda and don't go there, your trip would be terribly incomplete. Somehow go there, and behold what lies at the end. Fascinating scenery. Also, don't miss the waterfall. You will go downhill and it is easy. Takes probably 1.5 hours overall. But again, a mesmerising spot.
The people of Kohistan are very welcoming; their hearts brim with purity, thier outlooks with innocence. But they dread that this influx of tourists may erode their local customs and culture. But they have accepted this cost in a hope to see their region developed, with varying business and job opportunities.
