Pabbi Forest Park, a nature lover's paradise, is a part of Rakh Pabbi Sarkar Forest, which was declared as reserved forest in 1879. The total area of Rakh Pabbi forest is around 38,874 acres while the elevation of its hills varies from 982 to 1,358 feet above the sea level and they are a part of Himalayan foothills. Brief History: A Forest Officer Camping site was established during 1982 under a scheme named "Range Management Demonstration, Training & Research Project." Later on, the same was declared as Pabbi Hills Recreational Park, from October 2000. The Park remained under the control of Pakistan Army for some time, and they added some recreational facilities in the Park. Over the course of time, it remained neglected with no interest either by visitors or the forest department to upgrade it. I visited this area in January 2015, & decided to upgrade this naturally landscaped park site. Subsequently, a donor's conference was convened on 26th March whereby, expats of Kharian & Sarai Alamgir, pledged Rs. 2 Millions for the Pabbi Forest Park. These funds were collected & utilised by our beautification committee (Raja Muhammad Anwar, Ch. Gulzar & Tauseef Haider Shah) under personal supervision of mine.

Attractions for the Visitors:

TOURING LODGE -

PICNIC SPOT -

PABBI HILLS VIEW POINT-

LAKE VIEW POINT;

GREEN SPOT -

SUNSET VIEW PARK -

WALKING & JOGGING TRACK -

JUNGLE HUT -

Finally, I pay a heartfelt tribute to all those who contributed for development of this Park.

Regards, Muhammad Shoaib Nissoana. Assistant Commissioner,...

Pabbi National Forest is located near the city of Kharian, along the main highway leading to Islamabad. It’s just about a 10-minute drive from Kharian. However, the entrance to the forest is not easy to find. There are no proper signboards to guide you, so you will likely need Google Maps to locate the entry point.

At the entrance, there is a small canteen, but the condition of canteen is not well-maintained. Vehicles are not allowed inside, so you have to park outside and enter on foot.

Inside the forest, there are two marked paths. One is labeled as the children's park, which also serves as a trekking path, and the other is for walking and jogging. The children's park route eventually leads back to the main entrance after a loop, but the jogging trail seems to go on endlessly without clear direction or endpoint.

One major issue is the presence of stray dogs throughout the forest. There’s also a noticeable lack of sanitation and basic maintenance. There’s no proper canteen or refreshment area, and the existing one appears run-down and possibly non-functional.

In summary, while the forest has potential and could be a great natural escape, it suffers from poor upkeep and lacks essential visitor facilities. It’s a hidden gem, but it needs better management to...

Can be very beautiful and adventurous place but so far its seem very unsafe to visit. There are few places which can be visited even you can do some picinic here but don't wander around from rest area. 1. You can picnic here with family 2. Try to bring your own food, snacks and beverage 3. Dont go in deep forest in small groups especially if there are more females in your group If it would some security then it can be the best place along GT road
