English: While traveling to Surakki, a village in Punjab Pakistan, while boating there was a boat sinking in the water, the lake was named Uchali Lake. See all things to do ... Practically no parking space is available at Uchali Lake A Haven Like Place Soon Valley is a breathtaking vista of natural beauty comprising of lakes and springs, lush green fertile fields, beautiful landscapes, dense forests and pre-historic sites.
An official of Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) Thursday told APP that the valley provides a unique sanctuary for migratory birds in winter. "Located at a height of 5,010 feet (1,530 m) above sea level, Sakesar is the highest point in the Soon Valley. The area of Soon Valley is about 300-square-mile (780 sq km)" he said Khabikki is also the name of a neighbouring village. The official further said that Jhalar Lake is another important attraction in the southern Salt Range. He said that these lakes attract thousands of migratory birds each year including rare white-headed ducks (Oxyura leucocephala) from Central Asia. He said that the main components of development at Khabeki Lake includes a restaurant, tourist information center , board walk, Gazebos, cycling treks, hard and soft landscaping, hiking trails, Staff residence, bird watching & sighting of several other wildlife species. Moreover the installation of signage and benches has been completed to facilitate the visiting tourists.
He informed that Kanhatti Garden was established by Major W Whet Burn, District Engineer of the area during 1933. "Kanhatti sub village of Khabeki has been derived from Kanhat, a special rock found at natural water spring. The plantation in the garden includes Almond, Apricot, Pine Apple, etc" the official added.
He said that the components of development at Kanhatti Garden include Camp site and Camping facility, Garden view point, rest House, caravan Park, Camel riding, hiking trails, bird watching & sighting of several other wildlife species, natural water springs, waterfalls, water mills and water pools. Preservation of the local species of flora and fauna and migratory birds is also a high priority concern of TDCP.. Also known as a twin of Murree, the valley is located at over 5,000 feet above sea level which is the secret behind it's pleasant and cool weather.
In summers, the valley experiences a lot of rainfall while in winters it's landscape is covered with white and soft snow. This is the second area in Punjab, after Murree, that receives snowfall.
The lush and tall trees of the valley invite birds of various species and is a sanctuary for them. The melodious tune of the birds chirping enhances the valley's beauty.
The place also boasts of wildlife such as deer, leopards, foxes and partridges. Some of the must-visit places in the valley include Sakesar Lake, Uchali Lake and Khabeki Lake.
Soon valley is overlooked by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab. The corporation ensures that the beauty of the place remains intact and prevents tourists from harming it.
For people visiting from Lahore, the valley is only located at a two-hour drive from the city. Tourists from Karachi, on the other hand, can first take a flight to Islamabad and then drive to Soon Valley. Also known as a twin of Murree, the valley is located at over 5,000 feet above sea level which is the secret behind it's pleasant and cool weather.

Read moreYesterday i.e. 14.10.17, was finally able to visit two of the 8 famous tourist attractions there I.e. the Uchhali Lake and the Khabeki lake, in district Khushab. Uchhali is about 209 kms from Isb down South where u take the M-1 Motorway going towards Lahore.
U get off on the Kallar Kahar interchange and head towards Khushab touching small villages like Pail, Jabba and Naushera. If U have not eaten then Naushera is the last small town where u must eat since there is no other restaurant after that. Uchhali is a small village with about 200,000 souls and the lake is about 6.5 kms long and 1.5 kms wide. Migratory birds from Siberia start visiting from mid October to escape the harsh winters there.
It looks stunning at daybreak but since there is no hotel nearby thus it is difficult to catch sunrise there. The TDCP is working on the development aspect but it does not look like a priority. There is a road which goes halfway into the lake and vanishes. Although beautiful but it is a shambles since it is broken and dilapidated at the end and eroding fast due to the brackish water in the lake.
It takes about 4 hours from Isb to get there. The last patch of the road is terrible and needs immediate repair otherwise overall the road condition is great. I am amazed to see the road conditions in Punjab which are...
