If you're planning to visit Mangla Fort, keep in mind that while Google Maps may show it's just a five-minute drive from Mangla Water Resort, the direct road is closed by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). Instead, you need to enter through the city of Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. From Mirpur, you have to go through the Cantonment (Cantt) area and head towards Mangla Dam. Once you reach the dam, continue driving for another 15 to 20 minutes to get to Mangla Fort. The fort is located at the top of a mountain, right next to Mangla Dam, which means you’ll actually be standing on the dam wall when visiting the site. Mangla Fort is well-maintained and offers beautiful views. It’s a historical location worth visiting, especially if you're in the area. Inside the fort, there’s also the Mangla Dam Museum, which showcases construction artifacts and historical materials preserved from the time the dam was built. Overall, Mangla Fort combines scenic beauty with historical significance. It’s a must-visit if you're nearby, especially for those interested in history and architecture.
