Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has formally inaugurated the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign at provincial level by planting Platanus orientalis (Chinar Tree) at Peshawar Zoo which will be followed by comprehensive plantation campaign at regional and district level.

Figures provided by the Forest Department indicate that 12.5 Million saplings are ready for planting during the current monsoon season out of which 3.451 Million will be planted in the Central Southern Region-I, 4.152 Million in Northern Forest Region-II Abbottabad, 0.843 Million in Malakand Forest Region-III and 4.935 Million in the Newly Merged Tribal Districts.

The Chief Minister, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Monsoon Plantation Campaign, stated that 1.208 Billion Plants have been raised against a target of 1 Billion by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led provincial government which was made possible by the efficient management, dedicated team work and active participation of the community.

The Chief Minister furthered that the present federal government has embarked on a challenging task to plant 10 Billion plants during the next four years out of which the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will plant 1 Billion trees. While commenting on the plantation campaign of the present government, the Chief Minister clarified that in addition to plantation, the present government has also taken pragmatic steps against timber mafia which has brought deforestation to a halt in the entire province.

Mahmood Khan added that due to the previous Billion Tree afforestation Project of the provincial government, the forest cover in the province has increased by 6.3% along with providing job opportunities to over 5 lac people in the province.

Commenting on the current incidents of forest fires, the Chief Minister clarified that a committee has been formed to investigate the incidents and fix responsibilities accordingly and all those found involved will be brought to justice.

As part of civic duties, the Chief Minister appealed to every segment of the society to take part in the plantation campaign and become a part of a great and futuristic movement which is solely meant for the better future of our coming generations and Pakistan as a whole. He stated that environmental changes are no longer under debate as the effects of global warming are becoming obvious every passing year. He stated that it becomes our duty not only as a Pakistani, but also as a human being to undertake measures for the betterment of humanity as a whole. #KPKUpdates...

Peshawar Zoo is a fantastic destination for families and individuals looking for an enjoyable day out. With a variety of attractions, including a spacious and well-maintained paid play area for children, the zoo provides ample opportunities for entertainment and exploration. The play area is a highlight for kids, offering a safe and fun environment to engage in activities. The zoo also houses a variety of animals, making it a great place to learn about wildlife. However, there is room for improvement in some areas. The aquarium, for instance, could benefit from a wider range of fish species to make it more engaging and educational. Similarly, the snake house, while intriguing, would be far more appealing with live species instead of replicas. Adding real reptiles would not only enhance the visitor experience but also provide an opportunity to educate the public about these fascinating creatures. One of the key aspects of any zoo is the care and well-being of its animals, and while Peshawar Zoo offers a pleasant experience, more attention to animal welfare would make it truly outstanding. Ensuring better quality food and improved living conditions for the animals would go a long way in elevating the zoo's standards. Despite these areas for improvement, the zoo offers good value for its entry fee and serves as a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. Peshawar Zoo has the potential to become one of the region's top attractions.
