This is a caravanserai from Mughal / Sher Shah Suri time. It is believed that though a route / road existed in the area since 3rd century BC connecting Kabul with Chittagong through Lahore and Delhi; it was Sher Shah Suri who renovated / upgraded this road in 16th century and built a number of caravanserais along the highway. This seems to be one of those caravanserais though it is not certain whether it was built in the time of Sher Shah Suri or during later Mughal period. The building is in a reasonably good shape, despite the fact that there is no visible arrangement for care / maintenance of the building.
