The National Assembly or Aiwān-e-Zairīñ (in Urdu) is the lower legislative house of the bicameral Parliament (Majlis e Shoora) of Pakistan. As per Article 51 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, it has total 336 seats. The members of National assembly are called as Member National Assembly (MNAs). A political party must secure 172 seats out of 336 to obtain and preserve a majority. National assembly term is for 5 years once formed unless and otherwise dissolved. Out of 336 total seats 266 are directly elected by people under universal adult suffrage; 60 are reserved for woman; and 10 for minorities.
Seats in National Assembly are allocated to each province and the capital on the basis of population of that province in last census.
