The trail can get extremely muddy and slippery after it rains. The water is rough with hard waves, which makes it less than ideal for swimming. I slipped several times and almost got my shoe caught in the mud.
Locals will warn you that it is posisble that you will be robbed or have your personal items stolen walking on the trail or if you place them on the beach. While it is secluded and you can have the beach all to yourself, be aware that there are people in the woods just off the beach and near the trails that are clocking you. Read moreThe Beach itself is very long, stretches of soft sand. in late September it was dry and peaceful to swim. some waves, depending on the weather. The jungle path also during the short 4 nights we stayed on the island were dry, so it was OK to hike through the jungle. I can imagine that it would be really difficult (especially the really steep part) the mud would be very unpleasant to get through to the beach.
