Diablo Island: Beautiful when the weather is nice. We stayed here 3 nights and it didnt rain at all, but 2 days it was quite windy with high waves. From around 9:30am to 2:30pm the island is quite crowded with day tourists. It didnt bother us, but if you‘re looking for absolute relaxation this island is not for you. In the morning and evenings there are only about 20 tourists sleeping on the Cabana Niadub side of the Island. We booked through san blas dreams, everything went smooth. Some staff on the island speaks english.
Accomodation (Cabanas Niadub): We had a private hut with private bathroom. It was directly at the ocean side which was nice, but the huts are pretty rustic. Mattresses are old and dirty, the bathroom is made of wood which molds. Okay for three nights but not more. The shared bathrooms are not very inviting either but shower pressure is okay and everything works.
Food: Much better than we expected. For breakfast they served coffee, fried bread with cheese and eggs which was delicious. Unfortunately no fruits or juice. For lunch and dinner you can choose each day between chicken/fish/Fish Filet/shrimps with Fries/rice/potatoes/plantains. The food tastes good, though it is nice they have ketchup and salt and pepper on each table. Portions are okay, though I recommend bringing some snacks for the afternoon!
Drinks: Each drink is 2$ and they serve it icecold, they have bottled water (600ml) and cans (350ml, Coke, Beer, Ginger ale and much more, cocktails as well). If you stay overnight I recommend bringing your own water or drink, there is no place to cool them but it saves you money.
Tour: A tour was included in our trip and it was very nice. We went to perro Chico Island and two other spots. Bring your own snorkeling set! There is a lot to see under water.
All in all we had an awesome trip. I recommend staying at least 2 nights as the transportation takes time and especially the car rides are rough and curvy. This tour was the perfect ending to our 3...
Read moreIf you're dreaming of an untouched tropical paradise, Isla Diablo in the San Blas archipelago is the destination that turns fantasy into reality. From the moment our boat approached the island, the sight of its pristine white sands, swaying coconut palms, and crystal-clear turquoise waters took our breath away. This island, also known as Niadub, is a slice of heaven that offers an authentic and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The beaches here are nothing short of spectacular. Soft, powdery sands stretch around the island, inviting you to relax and soak up the sun. The surrounding waters are teeming with vibrant marine life, making it a snorkeler's dream. We spent hours exploring the nearby coral reefs, marveling at the colorful fish and intricate coral formations. One of the highlights was swimming near the remains of a shipwreck, which added a touch of mystery and adventure to our snorkeling experience.
Accommodations on Isla Diablo are rustic yet charming. We stayed in traditional wooden cabanas with thatched roofs, which provided a comfortable and immersive experience. While the amenities are basic, the simplicity adds to the island's allure. There's no Wi-Fi or television, allowing you to truly disconnect and appreciate the natural beauty around you. The communal dining area served delicious meals, primarily featuring fresh seafood caught by local fishermen. Each dish was flavorful and satisfying, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of the...
Read moreThe pick up was fine. The driver was on time. He did make a stop at the store for our convenience.
The boat ride to the island was cool. FYI sit in the back to save your back from the bumps.
La Isla Diablo was meh at best. Only 1/2 of the island is accessible. 1/4 of it is literally trash. And it smells like trash.
The Guna Yala people are not engaging. The only interaction is with those serving food or drinks. And it's only to serve your food/drink. Nothing more. Nothing less. And it's not because they can't. They chose not to.
The food was terrible. The fish was way overcooked. The rice was undercooked.
The accommodations were like camping, as is explained in the description.
If you go alone, be prepared to be alone. If you stay overnight, you will share a room with whosoever will.
It's a pretty place. But there's much better in San...
