I booked a day tour through Taboga Express. There were several tour options available, as some include lunch and beverages. I opted for the the package that included a beverage on the boat ride and lunch on the island. The boat left from Causeway, Fort Amador to Taboga Island. Side note: There are two places you can get a photo in front of the Panama Sign. Amador Causeway is one of those places.
Please keep in mind, there are typically two departure times. If you miss boat, you'll probably have to spend the night. The package also included a walking tour of the island, which detailed history of the French and the Panama Canal. The lunch was good. It's not a fancy place, just a local spot with good food. The beers on the island were $1 and they provided you with beach chairs. Make sure you bring beach towels and change for the bathroom. It really feels like your own private beach/ocean, as they were not a lot of people....
Read morePlaya de la Isla Tortuga is a charming spot just a 30-minute ferry ride from Panama City. The ride itself is enjoyable, offering relaxing views of the city and ocean as you approach the island. Once you arrive, the peaceful atmosphere is a nice change from the city, and the beach is particularly appealing with its smooth sand and plenty of interesting seashells scattered around.
Walking along the shore, I enjoyed spotting a variety of colorful shells, each with unique patterns and shapes. Beyond the beach, the island also offers beautiful hiking trails that lead to the top of the island. The hike is worth it for the panoramic views of the ocean, Panama City, and the ships making their way into the canal. It’s a perfect way to combine some light exercise with breathtaking scenery. The island’s combination of relaxation and exploration makes it a great spot...
Read moreIf you want to adventure a bit, it is an interesting day trip. The beaches are nothing to write home and not clear. Very small town, very primitive; dirtier than you would expect. Some funky stands to eat. Not much shade. Rent umbrellas and chairs if you are staying the day. Best is to swim a little, walk a little and catch the 2:30pm boat back. However there are just some amazing people are cool places. Stop to get coconut water or natural juices right after you land. The first building to the right of the dock. Check out the seats in the back balcony. Visit Casa Taboga Restaurante, a bit inside the town and past the old church - quite a sight by itself. The restaurant is a wonderful place to eat. Try the mojitos. Catch their complementary ride with Caridad to/from town if walking in the humid tropics is...
