It's quite small but also attached to a cool little museum. The guy who runs the museum is great and very knowledgeable about the war. He gives excellent talks. There is a shot down Japanese zero there which was awesome. I highly recommend going there as part of one of the tours. The Max time you could spend at just that stop would be about an hour IMO. Our tour guide Mary Rose was great.

Admiral Isoruku Yamamoto's iconic world war two structure opposite the New Guinea CLub, the only standing building after the bombing of Rabaul. Definitely worth a visit. Key to access both tourist attractions held at the Rabaul Hotel. K10 per person site fee goes towards the Rabaul Historical Society for the upkeep of both.

Historically interesting. Would be so much better if there was a storyboard with info about the site. A couple of dollars entry. Also a museum nearby with exhibits (parts of a Japanese Zero, torpedo, guns etc).

The bunker's atmosphere was stifling, a thick veil of heat and moisture. By the end, my clothes clung to me, drenched in perspiration. Amidst the dim light of the smartphone torch emerged inscriptions in the wall. A fellow traveller, versed in high school Japanese, deciphered them as a list of names and numbers, an enigmatic roster from a...

Cool little war museum showing the history of Rabaul during WW2 with some artefacts and photos. There's a Japanese concrete bunker on the grounds you can enter and have a look around. No entry fee or wait to get inside when I visited on a Monday. There's about a dozen locals out front selling the usual wood carvings, fridge magnets and...
