ZOOLOGICO GALLITO DE LAS ROCAS — Attraction in Chanchamayo

As someone who's been to a lot of zoos over the years, a couple here in Peru as well as in the UK. I was very very disappointed and sadned to see the conditions these beautiful animals were being kept in. While there some repairs where going on but these were repairs to really poor made cages ( far to small to be called enclosures ) from what we could see it seems some animals have been/allowed to breed then separated and put in different cages making it seem at first they have far more to see when in fact it's the same over and over. It's in desperate need of a complete rebuild or relocation with better enclosures or releasing some of the animals back into the wilds.

All zoos and animal parks should have a governing body to over see and ensure people are not just caging...

La verdad no fue muy buena, mi expectativa era otra. Más que zoológico parecía granjita de diferente tipos de aves de corral, (también había faisanes, pato mandarín) eso si nunca había visto un pavo real blanco y te daban lechuga para darles a las aves y a una tortuga que tenía hambre y caminaba por ahí, la otra estaba como debajo de un caño. Había un gallito de Las Rocas, 3 lechuzas y 4 Águilas negras que para ser animales tan grandes el espacio era muy pequeño. El precio de adulto es 10 soles y 5 soles niños. El zoológico es pequeño en media hora máximo y dando de comer terminaste el zoológico. Ahhh...
