One more of the archeological sites near Cusco. You can take a guided tour of multiple sites in one day. For us, we drove in a rental car from scared valley and visited this site in additions to few others in the same route. They are all only a few mins of stop on route from scared valley to Cusco.
The BTC tickets priced about USD $20 person, which also covers this site (including multiple other sites as well) if you have bought this BTC tickets save it and use it to visit all sites in the list that’s listed on the ticket.(see photo of the BTC ticket, the sites are listed on it).
This archeological site were actually the showers and bathing site of the king or as they say the ‘Inca’ of Cusco. Not very impressive as compared to other archaeological locations that we visited worth a visit as it’s on the way to Cusco and only takes few mins to visit plus included in the price of BTC ticket, so we stopped and checked it off the list!
Tips: Prep for all weather: rain jacket, wear a spring jackets (get rainy, cold, windy, warm, sunny) sunscreen & sunglasses. Change in Peruvian sols if you plan to buy from local vendors - they accept dollar also but sol will be cheaper when compared. Local street vendors are selling many items and souvenirs, bottled drink’s and snacks. Bring toilet paper they don’t have it in the restrooms there.
No guide needed it’s a quick stop but many guides are available if you need a quick lesson on what is what. And it’s good to give locals employment at a very small tiny cost to us. Many vendors on the walk way selling beautiful local items and clothing. Have cash available if you plan to purchase any thing.
Clean Bathrooms or Baños available right at front. Remember to bring your own tissue paper/toilet paper they don’t have it in the restrooms there. Soap and clean water to wash hands was there. No tissue paper so...

How was it: This place was our first sightseeing place in Cusco. We were very tired from our overnight flight and not used to the altitude yet. Needless to say, we didn't have the necessary strength to visit the entire place but we appreciated the beauty. Like most places in Cusco, there are vendors selling pictures and artisanat at the park entrance. They can offer you great prices at times and feel free to negotiate with them. They don't however accept credit cards, so make sure you have enough money. This is one of the places you can buy the 'boleto touristico', again you need cash (and lots of it because it's rare they accept cards). The boleto touristico is well worth it, if you're in Cusco for more than 5 days, consider the extended version to visit many places. *Another advice, the city tour consists of many sights. The main one you will want to spend more time is Sacsayhuaman and 'consider' getting a guide if you want. You can pay for guides at the other sights, but it will get repetitive and expensive. Our thoughts shared with you ! ;-)
Grade: Eli = 4, Serge = 4 Recommend: Yes, it's part of the 'boleto touristico' and a nice place...
Read moreTambomachay is a fascinating historical site located just outside Cusco, Peru. The Incan ruins are well-preserved and showcase intricate stonework and hydraulic engineering that are still impressive today. The site is believed to have served as a resting place for the Incan rulers and was also used for ceremonial purposes.
Visitors can explore the various water channels and fountains that are part of the complex and learn about the significance of each one. The site is easily accessible by taxi or tour bus and can be combined with other nearby Incan ruins such as Sacsayhuaman and Qenqo.
Overall, I highly recommend Tambomachay for anyone interested in Incan history and engineering marvels. The site is well-maintained, informative, and offers stunning views of the surrounding...
