It has a lot of history and information about Maria Reiche, and thanks to her there is tourism in Ica Peru, and many tourist Peruvian and from all over the world, that are on their way to see the Nazca Lines are contributing to the economy of Ica and also everyone pays an entrance fee, to the museum but the authorities are so ignorant that they don't keep the facilities at least with minimum standards, with clean bathrooms and running water. I hope they do something about it because this place is in the middle of nowhere and after traveling for few hours by bus this is the only bathroom you will find, specially difficult...
Read moreLots of room for improvement. This place feels very authentic and is a nice oasis of calm. However, if you come here to find out more about the Nazca lines, there isn't much here.
The museum is a dedication to Maria (and her sister) Reiche, the German lady who investigated the lines, roamed the desert of most of her life, and discovered much of its treasure.
The exhibits are not that well organized and appear quite shabby and old. The explanations are not as exciting as her story. The grounds are nice and relatively well kept. A book shop would be a great generator of...
Read moreIt's amazing what this dedicated woman from Dresden did. She singlehandedly put those geo-glyphs on the map, and fought till her last days for preserving them. It's a pity that this museum doesn't receive the attention and maintenance it deserves. As many other reviewers have noticed it does need more care. Maybe the authorities responsible will take notice? Or maybe not - that's basically the story of Maria's life - convincing the Peruvian government that their own amazing history deserves more attention and support.
