Mirador de Huanca Urco — Attraction in Huancas

I recommend approaching from the canyon trail that starts at the Mirador del Cañon. Buy both site tickets in Huancas and it’s about 6km + walk. From Del Cañon to the north a path is mostly obvious for the entire length. Near the end you approach a ridge where the neighboring valley becomes visible and the huts for Huanca Urco. Backtrack to the obvious trail where a fenced in field abuts a pine tree grove and follow the fence to the other side. I didn’t backtrack at first and got lost in footpaths, vegetation and rock walls. A bottle of water is a must and it took a longer time to trek because of the terrain and views, with only a few spots that were challenging. Eng: Absolutly amazing. You can see the entirety of the cañon, and it's really breathtaking. The place in itself is greatly amenaged, you have a pretty mirador that surplomb everything, and a little path that leads you safely closer to the edge, there's even wc. It will cost you 3soles for the entrance, and you'll have to walk like 45min before you reach the mirador, but don't worry the path is kinda easy and well indicated. If you want, you can choose to visit the archeological site, it's like 7 minutes away, and even if it's small, it's pretty nice (and at the end of it you have an another beautiful point of view). El Cañón de Huancaurco tiene una vista espectacular y pueden visitar los restos arqueológicos que hay en la zona. Pueden llegar en un tour privado que los espera ahí mismo en el lugar, pero si desean también lo pueden hacer por su cuenta tomando los colectivos en el paradero "Huancas" en Chachapoyas. No vayan al terminal de Chachapoyas porque desde el terminal salen colectivos hacia otros destinos: Bagua, Jaen, Pedro Ruiz, Celendín, etc. Tomen un taxi que cuesta 3.00 soles hasta el paradero Huancas (todos los taxis en Chachapoyas cobran 3.00 soles así suba 1, 2, 3 o 4 pasajeros).

Desde el paradero Huancas, los colectivos del comité te llevarán al mirador. Si quieres ir al primer mirador como el de Sonche el pasaje cuesta 3.00 soles, pero si quieres ir hasta el mismo Cañón de Huanca Urco te cobran 2.00 soles más, es decir, 5.00 soles hasta el cañón de Huanca Urco. Cuando retornen llamen al celular 959 605 984 para que uno de los conductores de la empresa Huancaurco suba al Cañón y los recoja; o en su defecto pueden llamar a la sra.
