Palmera 7 heads — Attraction in Ica

A really cute park in the town of Ica, Peru that reminded us of the roadside attractions throughout the US in the 50s and 60s, like the largest ball of string, or a cafe that looks like a shoe. Ica is a beautiful pueblito in Peru that has alot of "folksy" attractions. This is representative of that genre.

It's a nice place to go. There is a seven head palm tree that has such an interesting history. it is said that witches cast a spell on it to take revenge on the people who damaged them. Thus, it is said that if someone lets the last head of the palm tree grow then the city of Ica will suffer the consequences of the spell and the City of Ica will face an inundation, and there might be many loss and deaths. La palmera de las 7 cabezas es un lugar místico y que tiene una leyenda que pobladores de la zona te la pueden contar por una módica propina el lugar se puede visitar de forma gratuita, la historia es sobre la más famosa “bruja” de Ica es, sin duda, Julia Hernández Pecho Viuda, una bruja muerta a los 106 años, después de una vida de riesgos, lleno de conjuros y encantamientos dirigidos a hacer el bien y tratar enfermedades.

Cuenta la leyenda que se ha transmitido de padres a hijos, historiadores informales, sobre la profecía apocalíptica de la palma de siete cabezas.

De hecho, hay en Cachiche, un distrito de Ica famoso en el pasado como área de “brujas” y “Curanderos”, una palmera muy extraña con varios troncos que se generan a partir de un único sistema de raíces. Lo que hace esta palmera única es el hecho que de la palma algunos troncos entran en el suelo o se tuercen, como los anillos de una serpiente.

Cuenta la leyenda que la bruja predijo que Ica iba a ser destruida por una inundación cuando de esta extraña palma nacería la séptima cabeza.

La bruja estaba en lo cierto, por desgracia, de hecho, Ica se inundó en Enero de 1998 y cerca de mil casas quedaron inundadas cuando el río se desbordó.
