Cerro Kasapatac — Attraction in Jacobo Hunter

If you’re looking for a breathtaking panoramic view of Arequipa, this is one of the best spots to visit. The scenery is simply stunning—just take a look at the photos and videos to see for yourself.

The location is about a 10-minute taxi ride from downtown Arequipa. It offers a superior view compared to the Mirador de Sachaca due to its higher altitude. While it’s advisable to visit with others, I ventured there solo because I love a bit of adventure.

Please note that the site does not have wheelchair access. It's a roughly 5-minute walk from the taxi drop-off point. The viewpoint is located in the Hunter district of Arequipa.

A taxi ride from the Plaza de Armas (the city center) should cost no more than 15 soles. ( Cabify and InDrive from your phone is a good option), Alternatively, local buses run from Salaverry Avenue to the Antigua Cervecería, where Parra Avenue meets Calle La Merced, right outside the BCP bank.

El topónimo de kasapatac, proviene de dos voces quechuas, qasa: helada, brecha, abertura, sitio frígido y pata, elevación, parte alta, la deducción mas lógica indicaría que kasapatac, se refiere a un sitio frígido en un parte elevada. El mirador se ubica en la parte alta en la cima del cerro del mismo nombre, a 2,328 msnm., desde este punto se tiene una vista panorámica, la misma que permite observar toda la campiña, y parte de los distritos de Socabaya, Sachaca y Arequipa, asimismo se aprecia los 3 volcanes Misti, Chachani y Pichupichu, se encuentra una cruz, la misma que es venerada en los meses de mayo-junio, en la fiesta de las cruces....
