The trip out to Lares Hot Spring is one of the highlights coming from Calca. It is a very windy and twisty road through some exceptionally beautiful country. Take note that if traveling during the rainy season. It is very subject of flooding and rock slides. The day we left, we actually had to take a different route out due to a rock slide, the Hot Springs themselves are quite nice. The water is very murky due to the high mineral content definitely not dirty. We only stayed one day, but I saw them completely drain and scrub several of the pools in rotation. They keep the place very tidy and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. There’s also some excellent hiking right out from the Hot Springs up into the valley. the staff was friendly. The accommodations were basic but clean. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. The temperature of the Hot Springs was ideal. There were some very hot pools, some medium pools, cold plunges, and a large swimming pool...

The road is really beautiful, both in good weather and in slightly less good weather when the clouds are at your height or even lower. However, it is a very dangerous and narrow road, which you should not travel in the dark or in bad weather (I traveled back in the evening and there were amazing views of the sunset when the clouds were below. But as mentioned, from a safety perspective, it is not recommended). The springs are very enjoyable, something like six pools. From cold to very hot. The place is clean and well-kept, and the whole thing is in the middle of nature. The cost is 8 soles for locals and 15 soles for foreigners. there is local food places just just outside the pools. From around 5pm it starts to be a problem to travel back, it is possible, but a bit crowded. Therefore, it is worth arriving early. The travel time is about two...

Would be 5stars if it was not for the bright lights everywhere. Makes no sense to put bright lights where you can not see the stars at a Hotsprings resort? Hotsprings are made for star gazing. I think they have all the lights only to prevent theft… but they could just have a secure area of lockers guarded and then the lights wouldn’t be needed at all. Literally talked to 100 people there over a few days who ALL AGREED THAT THE LIGHTS RUINED THE HOTSPRINGS. I would pay triple the price for a natural light free experience! Only other issue was people leaving trash everywhere in the rinsing areas and not rinsing the soap off fully before entering the hot pools.m. The staff was very friendly and helpful! -but they really could improve 900% better and save MUCH MONEY if they put minimum ground lighting for the paths and got rid off all the...

Loved the hot springs at Lares!!! The place was very clean and the people who run it are friendly. The water is phenomenal. There are pools of different temperatures. Some are very hot, up to 118°F. Other pools are a more luke warm temp, and there is one pool that is nice and cool, probably around 60°F. The road to get to Lares is quite windy and you need to travel through the mountains to get there! If you get motion sickness I recommend bringing some Dramamine or something to help with an upset tummy. There are tons of really tight switchback turns that you need to pass through in the mountains and it can be quite nauseating. Other than that, the destination is lovely! You can pitch a tent or rent a room to stay overnight.
