Source of the Amazon River - Peru — Attraction in Nauta

You would be signing your own death warrant swimming here. This famous river starts with the confluence of 2 massive rivers - The Ucayali and The Marañón. With a mind boggling 60m in dept at this point of the Amazon, you can see multiple whirlpools swirling around. It was always a dream of mine to see this river, and from the safety of my small but strong wooden motorboat, it proved to be a very cathartic experience just cruising on this colossal volume of mud coloured water. Many things here, left me open-mouthed such as regular fluvial erosion by seeing and hearing huge sections of steep bank just cave into the river spontaneously. Also the wildlife is a million miles away to what I'm used to - caimans, anacondas, multiple species of birds of prey, and both grey & pink river dolphins. Yes, pink river dolphins! They are endangered but you can see them every few minutes here, playfully swimming around your boat.
