There is ample free parking here. You do have to pay some kind of "Natural Preserve" fee to simply drive down the road to even get to this museum. Can't remember how much it was but I think it was less than 10 soles per person. That gets you in to some kind of animal history museum for free but if you want to see the elongated skulls that is a different part of the museum and you have to pay to get in there too. That fee wasn't much either, around 10 soles per person. Unfortunately the private collection of elongated skulls featured on Ancient Aliens years ago seems to have closed around 2023 and was located downtown were this is in the middle of no where about 10 minutes from downtown. We're lucky there were even a few elongated skulls in this museum but they are a pittance of what was present in the private museum in Paracas that is now closed. This museum promotes the head binding theory of skull elongation, also a pity and in my opinion dishonors the true heritage of the ancient Paracas people. There was a tsunami in 2007 that wiped out the modern area of Paracas. There are signs around town stating it is a tsunami area. It is my assumption that whatever these beings with elongated skulls were in antiquity that a tsunami...

Well…another museum that said at the entrance that “they don’t display mummies” yet there in the 3ro Room are many human remains, skulls, and a mummy. It’s so disappointing. Peru has made some strides towards cooperative archaeological action, but still insists on many cases on displays which dishonor local and indigenous taboo and disrespect the ancestors. Therefore, they get 1 star from me.

It’s too bad. The rest of the displays are great and talk about agriculture, textiles and ceramics, all areas that are ok to display.

If you are culturally sensitive and want to respectfully support indigenous perspectives do not support museums that display bones or mummies of their ancestors but buying entrance.

The surrounding park is worth visiting with beautiful beaches and...

For sure to have a view of the pass help to improve your concept of the present. This place is small and practically in the middle of nowhere, but is well care and provide a reference of the whole area, ones you see the "technology" used by this ancient people and when you realize that you are in the same space were thousand of years ago differt groups of people made his efforts to live against the elements and they success, well you will start respecting not only this people but also the surroundings.

Make sure to not touch or brake nothing, even when you don't see nothing around you the nature is everywhere, at different moments at different places. Enjoy, protect and respect...

This is a nice small museum which provides the information needed to appreciate the geology, archeology, fauna and flora of the reserve. It has a small shop which sells a few books. It is the best place to access the flock of flamingos which reside in the reserve. Two major burial sites occur in the immediate vicinity of the museum. Across the highway is the larger of the two sites, Cerro Colorado, the red hill. Closer to the museum is a smaller burial site which was reserved for the social elite, those those skulls had been purposely elongated.

Please note the photos and review are for the path beyond the Museo where you can view the seabirds and Flamingos. I have a long telephoto lens to get the photos I got. I don't know if higher tides would bring the birds closer. Despite the distance it was very cool to see them and the other sea birds as well.
