Black Island in Busuanga is by far the best island I’ve ever set foot on. None of the other small islands I’ve visited in the Philippines can compare to this hidden gem. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and fine, and there's even a cave you can explore — a unique feature that sets it apart.
Black Island is included in tour packages, so I highly recommend joining one if you’re in Coron. There’s plenty of marine life to see while snorkeling, and our guide made the experience even more special — shoutout to Ate, I hope she’s doing well!
Another cool thing about the island is the presence of monitor lizards, which you can spot when the caretaker feeds them. Just a heads-up: camping isn't allowed here since there’s no electricity or running water.

Read moreThe island was incredible but the boats are destroying it. The coral is badly damaged :( all the sk ippers anchored directly onto the coral smashing it up. I often saw them standing on it too. I tried to explain that if they keep throwing anchors into the coral it will continue to die, there will be no marine life and then no tourism…. but they gave me blank stares. Not sure where my 200 pesos for the environment fee paid to the cost guards at the port was going towards !!! The island guards should be monitoring and guiding them to a safe place to anchor ( which there were ). So sad to see an incredible reef...
