Cabatreas Beach Resort is a resort with helpful and friendly owners. It's one of five or six resorts in Brgy. Santiago Norte, Caba, La Union.
First, the best thing about this place is it's a beachfront resort. It's literally just a few steps away from the beach. (FYI - It doesn't have a pool.)
We stayed here overnight for a much needed salty air and water because of coughs and colds (the sea always helps us get rid of phlegm/mucus). Just for the sea salt really.
We stayed in unit 6, the unit closest to the beach. I think the room is good for 6pax (there were only four of us). There were no other guests because it was September and a typhoon has just passed and there was the monsoon rain. We asked if we could stay in the said room because we wanted to be as close to the beach as we can, for the price of a room for four. The owners agreed. Awesome!
Next, it has wooden sofa outside the room, it has a working fridge, a dining table, a HUGE restroom and bath (my companions though mentioned that the water pressure is poor), new aircon, queen/king size beds. Pillows, blankets, towels and toiletries were provided. They also have WiFi (although reception is bad in room 6 probably because it was already far from the router. I would suggest a WiFi extender so guests could get a better signal).
The other good thing are the friendly and accommodating owners and helpers. Thumbs up!
The owner also offered to cook breakfast for us. It is worth the 200 pesos per plate for a food-filled serving (ang hirap ubusin, hehe) consisting of 3 or 4 Vigan longganisa, tocino, sunny-side up egg, tomatoes, a big cup of rice, and coffee/hot choco (see attached photo).
I also found the water faucet outside each room really cute. You can wash your sand-filled feet there before entering your room.
There's also a gated parking area within the resort.
We needed to leave early for another appointment so we didn't get to swim but it might not really be fun to swim because the beach has a lot of big and small rocks. One big rock hit my foot when a strong wave came.
If you need a simple, home-feel resort, this is...
Read moreWe recently spent 10 days in Cabatreas and we just loved it! Amy and Andrew are a very nice couple hosting you with care and kindness! The location is perfect not only to enjoy amazing sunsets on the beach (accessible from the garden) and to take an early bath in the sea in the morning, but also for a few minute walk to simple and authentic Caba's downtown where you can find simple and fresh food all day long. The garden is a little heaven on earth with beautiful bougainvillea and other colorful flowers, as well as with its "kubos" where you can sit and enjoy the gentle breeze coming from the sea.. The rooms are spacious, clean, simple and practical; Amy will spontaneously offer you a boiler to make your own tea and other kitchen utensils if you want to use their garden kitchen. This place is simple and authentic and we will come back next year for sure! Thanks Amy, you definitely are the main reason we will come back...

Additional fee, are told ahead of time and can be bargained. Hehe. For inquiries just check their...
