Wow. It's 7 hrs of mountain/root continuous climbing very steep up and 5 hrs of climbing down. It wasn't easy hiking and I have done many hard hikes in Australia . We were exhausted by the end of it. We went without a guide. At the summit there is supposedly a nice view of the mayon vulcano, however when we got to the top there was a massive fog limiting visibility to a few meters so we couldn't see it . Anyway, the mossy forests at the top of the mountain was beautiful so it was worth coming. There are no other lookouts on the way to the top. There was a running water in a few places. Someone put a small pipe for easy filling up of water bottles so I guess the water is good to drink. I drunk it and I am still fine two weeks later. We purchased the permit at the entrance. 500 piso for a foreigner and 100 piso for a local philipino. Plus some other small amount for other fees. We got down at 5pm and there was no gypny going back to legazpi. One of the rangers offered to take us on his scooter to the Carolina {8km} for a 200piso for both of us. From there we took a gypny back to legazpi. We didn't do anything strenuous for the next 4 days. It was a...

Read moreThis is the one of the tourist spot here in the Philippines. Base on my research. Dominating Camarines Sur’s landscape is Mt Isarog with (1966m), Bicol’s (dormant) second-highest volcano. From Panicuason (pan-ee-kwa-sone), a steep, half-hour walk along a rough road (passable if it’s dry, but a regular car will struggle) leads to the entrance of Mt Isarog National Park. Pay the admission fee at the base of the mountain. To the right, a short walk leads down some very steep stone steps to Malabsay Falls, where you can swim with a view of Mt Isarog – the experience is amazing. At Panicuason, Mt Isarog Hot Springs has five natural hot-to-tepid pools – a nice way to relax after a trek in the park. The springs are a 1.3km walk off the main road, just before the road to the national park. So what you are...
