Best months to visit to see birds are October and November. Best time to see birds are early morning according to the friendly staff. The road going to the reserve is a single track dirt road with deep ditches on both sides in some locations. Best to go there on mountain bikes, motorcycles or 4x4s but our sedan was able to make it but I had to drive carefully. We went there in early March on a sunny day so the dirt road was manageable. Bring telephoto lens as regular lenses won't give you great photos of the birds. Bring food and drinks as there are no stores nearby.

Newly built wide roads but intermittently covered with unhusked rice grains (palay) for drying. The exact sanctuary site (indicated on Google maps) cannot be accessed as both dirt roads leading to it are blocked. Most of the wetlands and grasslands have been converted to rice fields and duck farms. Happily, I still got to spot flocks of migratory egrets.

Such a relaxing place... peace and beauty of nature at one of its finest. Though, there were not that much birds during our visit, still we were so awed with what we saw in that place. Definitely worth your trip when you visit Pampanga.

Terrible place. No viewing huts. No facilities. No signposts for directions. Had to drive along a leathal dirt track for 3km to get there. And all thats there are a few ducks in a pen and some Eagrets. The swamp is pretty much non existent now and is just more rice fields. Google needs to change their viewing of this place. There hasnt even been a post in their facebook page for 10 years. Its clear that its Candaba but the bird sanctuary...
