I set off on the 23rd. May 2012 to take a motorbike ride around part of this Island. I have to say this is the most uncomfortable ride I have ever taken with three people on the bike! We stopped at this historic town of Alegria which is a 4th municipal income class municipality in the Province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 23,300. In the 2016 electoral roll, it had 15,431 registered voters. This day was very hot and humid and trying to vidio the journey and balance on the back of a small motorcycle is not to be recommended. Alegria Heritage Park is the heart of the Alegria Town and should not be missed, boasting a 18th century church ( Saint Francis Parish ) local markets where you can buy local produce, wander around the park find a bench, relax and look out over the Tañon Strait. It has a watchtower built in the 1800’s during the Spanish regime in the Philippines. This Historic Structure was used as a detecting device to warn the locals from the invading pirates and Moro raiders for slave trading in the Moluccas. There is a plaque which was unveiled on the 21st of February 2012, by the Governor Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia with the co-operation of the local Government of Alegria under the leadership of Mayor Emelita Blanco Guisadio to commemorate this significant Park area. We walked around the town here in which they have a beautiful old Church. The views from the Historical Park area across the straights here is...
