In a nutshell:
One of the few surprising adventures I've had while in Argao. Going to, and from this water terraces is already an adventure in itself - you get to choose which path to take.
Normal hike thru plains hills and houses, or, thru the river. My suggestion would be take the normal hike heading to the water terraces, and take the river hike when heading back home.
They now have rooms for overnighters, and also their own resto. The sound of the flowing river at night as you sleep would make this trip really worth it and a bit romantic, if I say so myself 😅.
The name says it all - its a literal water terraces. Learn the history of this place also, as this was a surprising discovery by the owners back then.
Most enjoyable pool would be the bottom most (8ft deep), while the rest is just good for hanging around and pics and selfies 😁. Of course you can swim in it 😂.
The waters are crystal clear, since it's from a flowing spring. There's a 711 or Prince Hypermart for goodies, drinks or ice - a stopover if you will before making that trip.
Btw, the roads heading there are not cemented or asphalt so drive carefully for small cars or multicabs.
They also have tourist guides for first timers, I'd highly recommend to get one. On the next trip, you can go by yourself, and not need to offer any payment for the guides.
How to get there:
Upon entering that right turn upon reaching Argao, the main marker would be the 711 beside the highway. Note that it will be the road before that that cuts straight into the mountain. If you overshoot, no problem. You can take a right turn on the next street, and just retrack on your map.
Enjoy the views while you're at it since it will take awhile to get to the barangay hall. There will also be signages, so look out for them. Don't be shy about asking for directions as well, as people there are friendly and approachable.
Note that the road will be rocky at times and not paved so tread carefully.
Pros:
The water terraces and pristine waters friendly staff and guides different pools to choose from. Shallow , dipping, to deep and diving types. the trek, esp for adventurers will be an interesting hike the sight seeing... Nice views of the rolling hills, good for pics and selfies as well 😜 you can bring your own food, and they also have their own restaurant on-site I believe it's managed by a cooperative so it helps the local community, and is good exposure as a tourist attraction.
Cons:
no trash cans within the terraces. The good thing is they don't allow people bringing anything upon entering the terraces. no restrooms nearby the hazard levels: after a sudden downpour, the river tends to overflow with brown muddy waters. It normalizes tho after 15-30 mins. not for the elderly, or with heart condition as the trek is long and arduous. The path tends to get slippery at times. def expect to get dirty as you walk along the road from the barangay hall. Advice: wear trekking shoes, or slippers, and shorts. It will be humid so wear light as well. still in development but making progress.
In Conclusion:
This is one experience and I'm dying to try again. You will not be disappointed in coming here. It's really worth the trip. On a plus side, head out to the nearest beach (mahayahay) to get both, the spring water and sea water...
Read moreIt was a last minute decision by my sister that we chose this location. Great views and experience. There are some minor inconveniences that you need to be prepared for when visiting this place.
First. Transportation. If you have a car or motorcycle, you have to be prepared regarding the location of the resort. There is a parking lot in which we paid for 50 pesos only for the day. There is no reception in the area few km before arriving and it can be tricky to find especially if you have not saved offline maps when driving.
Second. Reservation. If you have booked a room, you’re good. But if you only expected to walk in without prior notice, I suggest you have to make sure you arrive there at 8AM. We have a car so we traveled from Talisay City to Argao from 5AM and arrived in Argao at 7AM+. Reservation is really chaotic here. It doesn’t matter if you have reservations, it’s first come first serve. So you better make sure you come in early. Around 10AM-11AM there were groups of people, 8-10 people, most probably families, that claims they have reservations but sadly, they were barely given one table and a few chairs.
Third. Location. Traveling from the town of Argao to this location is challenging. There are a lot of sharp sloppy roads and when you choose to ride a tricycle from the town, they will only drop you off just few hundred meters from the location because they can’t risk the sharpness of the sloppy roads. You have to walk it to the entrance.
Fourth. After successfully arriving in the parking lot. You have to walk for another hundred meters down another sharp sloppy roads to finally arrive on the area.
Side notes: It’s best to be early because the falls can still be overused when its overcrowded and get too stained and dark even if the water is overflowing. They have abundant fresh water supply so toilets are great and doesn’t smell Friendly staff Peso WiFi. Very convenient. Many can use at the same time but has limits Wheelchair inaccessible area Has a dedicated smoking area
I would still highly recommend this place for people who likes nature especially those who have good stamina. Definitely would...
Read moreIt was really good and very nice. The place was really great and super relaxing, very Instagramable too. 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the place. However, the roads were really bad. ⭐ Some of us almost got injured on our way back to our service due to the slippery roads. It was an adventurous trip but Very inconvenient cars can't enter, too sad.
We also got a very bad experience from the neighborhood itself. Since we parked distant from the place. We have to walk for 10 minutes given if the road is not slippery, but earlier that day, there were rain showers and the roads were very slippery so it was a little dark when we got to our parked car. As we were heading out of the place there were men from the neighborhood threatening us, since we were having difficulty with our parking and we also used a big van. The men were trying to surround us with their motorbikes and one of my family members saw them with machetes. It was a horrible experience and made us not want to go back. I want to post our great pictures here but I'm too scared to disclose images because of that incident. After that experience, it's kind of traumatizing as we were trying to forget the incident.
I hope the management will be able to take action with it. Also, roads under construction were really dangerous especially if it's rainy. And I hope those people who tried to do us harm will be advised not to do it again. They will be the reasons why people will not come back to the area.
-But overall, before that incident, we had a blast. The waters were really cold. The flowing water pools were really amazing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was refreshing...
