We traveled from Moalboal to the peak in a rental car. We took the road from the center of Badian that passes Badian Highlands and Queen's Point. It got very steep at points and one small section (500 meters) is under construction and a dirt road. Otherwise it is completely paved and in great shape and a beautiful route. But again, it's steep and the dirt section was a little challenging. But we made it in our sedan. About 1 hour drive from Moalboal to the Osmeña Peak parking lot via this route (probably the shortest route).
The peak itself was greatly enjoyed by my family with two boys (ages 11 and 13). It was not a very long hike (about 1 km round trip), but steep. Don't think of this as an epic hike, but rather a walk to see some great views. As with many places like this, we were assigned a "guide". She was friendly and actually did a great job helping us get some amazing family pictures. Paid 50 PHP/person + 40 PHP to park. No fee for the guide, just the tip. It was a weekday afternoon in November and we only saw 4 other small groups of people while there.

Read moreThis is a beautiful area. The ride up through the rural areas on a motorcycle will be burned into my memory forever. The air gradually became cooler as we increased in elevation, a blessing in itself. We drove on a small road, past smiling school children walking home. The smell of wood smoke from fires would occasionally drift into my perception along with the smell of meals being cooked on them. Friendly locals smile as you ride by, from houses, that to my eyes, are precariously perched on the edges of cliffs. When we reached the end of the road, we checked into a small open building and signed our names, then begin the short hike. As we climbed, I noticed the clouds rolling over the tops of the peaks. Like a wave of water, they crashed against the windward sides of the peaks and rolled over and down the leeward side before continuing there journey from the ocean, across Cebu. Occasionally the clouds would clear and an amazing view of the other peaks, with the ocean behind them came in to view. The sights, the smells, and the sounds of the journey there all made for an amazing experience that was worth the time, even if the peak...

Mount Labalasan is part of the Patung, Badian range, which is unique from other mountain ranges in the Philippines because of its multiple jagged hills grouped together that overlook and stretch as far as the Badian shorelines.
