Loved the food and the view. The room was clean (but only 1 bathroom for the 12-person villa). The waiter was the MVP, climbing up and down the stairs with our orders.
That being said... I felt cheated during my stay. Why? The staff could have been more forthcoming / transparent about the fees for the pool that appears in FB, ongoing construction, fees for wifi, and the status of the wifi.
We visited a few days ago during a weekday and stayed overnight. It was a spur of the moment trip so not enough time to research like I usually do. My bad.
The infinity pool that appears a lot on their FB page isn't theirs. It's the next resort's pool, but is easily accessed and is their "sister resort" said the girl who checked us in. However.... they charge 200 pesos per person. This could have been disclosed during the many times the pool was featured online. This is bordering on misrepresentation. As a customer, I felt cheated. If a facility is not a part of your resort, why would you feature it and make it look like people have free access to it if they book their stay with you? I've been booking hotels for 15 years and I've never ever, not once had to ask "Is the pool in your photos free of charge?"
I asked over the phone if there's wifi. They said yes. Mom needed it for her work, and I promised my boss I would be reachable in case of emergencies. When we got there, they said there's wifi BUT we need to purchase it. At 25 pesos per person per gadget for 3 hours, it isn't expensive. We bought 6. But we only got to use it for half an hour because it just stopped working. When I asked the front desk about it upon check-out, they said the internet has been down for repair. No offer to refund, no apologies, nothing. Sold us wifi they knew we couldn't use. No signal for calls or texts either. I wish we were informed para nakaprepare mi. No connectivity is okay as long as informed ang guest para makaprepare unta.
No mention over the phone about the ongoing construction of new buildings within the resort. Noisy.
If you're reading this, then you're better-informed than we were. The place is nice. Views are breathtaking. Just be ready to be truly off the grid while you're there, and for all the other fees...
Read moreWe arrived at Buda without any reservation because of a sudden decision of getting here. We tried to check nearby Apartelle's and motels but to our surprise everyone is fully booked. We search a lot on facebook and luckily saw this place called New Year's Peak. Arriving here we are surprise that the owner or manager is the one that we spoke with. we are just amazed by the fact that they are taking their business seriously and they are so hands on. She said that there is only one couple room left for the night. We told her that we are a couple of two needed room for tonight. So she replied back to us that we should get there and check the room for ourselves so that we can decide and we can negotiate the price if we are to avail the rooms. We check it and since we are not that choosy, knowing that other places are fully booked for the night. We took the room that has an attic. We just can't stay on the attic during day time since the roof is too near/low it needed heat insulator to cover you from too much heat and humid though it has aircon and fan. But on night time it doubled the natural coldness of the place.
We spent the next 24 hours on this place and amazed by the beauty of nature and breathtaking view. We have a bonfire during night time and we also took a dip on their swimming pool with heater. The food was good worth of the price.
But what truly amaze us and brought more surprise is that they have a crew or member who is native in the area (Matigsalug) but can speak Bisaya language so well. Glad the owner adopted the fact that native of the place should be given chance and not ignored.
I would highly recommend this place the crew and people are friendly, warm and sociable. No dull moments, this is the perfect place to get connected and socialize not by social media or over the internet but face to face because there is NO CELLULAR PHONE SIGNAL but they have wifi connection in the resto which you can avail for 25 pesos.
Parking could be a bit of a challenge specially when you are using 4 wheels, you might need to park on the side of...
Read moreWe went here for a day tour on a holiday and was pleasantly suprised on how nice the place is despite the on-going renovations at the front and the nearby resort. The 180-degree scenery is very beautiful at the top of the hillside escape.
For P100 per head, visitors can enjoy a tour of the property including its cabins and amenities, and for an additional P200, one can try their infinity pool. They offer overnight stays starting at P2,500 for Wood House good for 2 pax up to P12,000 for a Villa for 12 pax. Their overnight rates include complimentary breakfast, usage of pool area, access to amenities which include the bonfire area, restaurant and view deck.
After our tour, we dined at their restaurant and ordered Pork Adobo with Tausi and Fried Chicken. We were surprised cause the fried chicken was very crispy with lots of fried garlic on the side and the pork adobo was really good. The menu is also posted here.
There was an on-going construction in the adjacent property and we were informed that it was a hotel which could accommodate big crowds in the future and is also owned by the resort. We are excited to return here and fully maximize their...
