The Shrine of Infant Jesus is a perfect place for personal and group retreats, offering a peaceful setting for prayer and reflection. Surrounded by green trees and the soft sounds of birds, it's a calm and refreshing environment where you can feel close to nature, free from noise and pollution, and enjoy the fresh, clean air.
I visited on a weekday and found it especially quiet, with only a few people around, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. There are many designated prayer spots thoughtfully spread across the area for quiet moments of contemplation. The lawns are well-maintained with neatly trimmed grass, and the pathways are easy to navigate. While some buildings are older, they’re kept very clean and add to the charm of the place.
The facilities are also excellent—restrooms are spotless, which is a nice touch. There’s also a small store selling religious items and sacramentals for anyone interested.
Overall, the Shrine of Infant Jesus is a hidden gem for anyone looking to relax, reflect, and find peace. It’s a highly recommended spot for those wanting a retreat or simply a quiet place to reconnect with themselves and...
Read moreWe came for the Feast of Sto. Niño (Holy Infant Jesus of Prague). Finding a parking space was really a challenge during this time. Luckily we found a private parking lot just a short walk from the shrine entrance.
We attended the mass first then pay homage to the Sto. Niño. We are given flowers after approaching the image.
It was so beautiful to see many people come together in a shared spirit of devotion to the Sto. Niño... Truly faith is not just a personal journey, but a collective one that brings us together and gives us a sense of purpose and belonging.
The Feast of Sto. Niño was a powerful reminder of the transformative power of faith, and I feel grateful to have been a part of this year's celebration. 🙏🏻😇🙏🏻
Though we leave immediately after paying homage; You can take stroll around the shrine for a reflection, light a candle in the votive, buy a rosary in their store at the back of the main chapel, pray in the chapel of the saints, or have a snack in the canteen before leaving. Tried going to the shrine with public transportation. I must say its really hard and difficult. It is hard since jeeps going to Matina are few and are full most of the time. I tried walking from the first station to the top, it was also quite challenging since when I visited it was afternoon and its really scorching hot. If you want to walk: wear comfy and light clothes, put on sunscreen, bring towel, bring water, and also dont forget your umbrella. Trycicles/pedi cabs are also available (P12.00 fare).
Candles are available - P5.00 per candle. Religious store also available near the chapel - rosaries, necklaces, prayer guides, small statues, pendants, and more. SHRINE OF THE HOLY INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE (STO. NIÑO SHRINE) Address: Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City
