Quirino Adventure Day 1 - November 3, 2023
Ganano Falls in Diffun, Quirino is the 2nd tallest of water falls in Luzon? The height of this falls may be the equivalent of a four storey building in the metropolis.
Prior trekking, one has to register participants there in Baguio Village Tourist Information Center, Diffun, Quirino and it is a must to avail of a local guide. Luckily, we had Dindo as our mountain guide. The hike would take about five kilometers which can be covered in one and a half hour.
Trekking is really not that extreme of an adventure. The trail abounds with grass, natural dried leaves providing for ground cover which cushions the sole of our feet as we walk along & get connected with nature. The towering flora filtering the sun's rays makes for a soothing trek.
We didn't see any of fauna but we did hear the chirps & sounds of the wilderness being our music along the way.
Be prepared to get wet, cross rivers & streams. Overall, the experience is breathtaking. What with the beautiful and majestic waters cascading...
Read moreWe started our trek at 7 am on a Saturday and finished at 9:49 am. The trek was quite challenging because our group arrived in Quirino without having breakfast (not a good idea) and we didn't expect the trek to be long. I misunderstood our tour guide; I thought there were only 4 stations before reaching the falls, but there were actually 14 stations. Along the way, we crossed bridges, rivers, rocks, and slippery stones. There was also some uphill climbing involved. I highly recommend wearing sturdy footwear that isn't slippery. During our trek to Ganano Falls, we learned from our tour guide that there are tribal groups living in Quirino. Additionally, it was fascinating to discover that our tour guide is proficient in speaking 7 languages/dialects in total. This added cultural insight made our experience even more enriching...

Just be careful when crossing minor rivers because the force of the water are strong. During rainy days, the stones are slippery and the road is muddy.
There is a registration area where you have to enlist before you start trekking. Having a guide is mandatory. Only two comfort rooms are available where you could take a bath after the trek. There are several stations along the way where you could take a rest. Depending on your speed, it will only take you 2-3 hours to finish the...
