Very beautiful nature park ! We had a great time and made some new friends with fellow park goers. As we went on a Weds, the park was not crowded at all. Some things to note when visiting:
We paid at 3 diff points for our hike along the river, totaling p165/pax. This is outside guide/environmental fees paid at the start etc.
To go from Manila, take a UV van from starmall to Tanay (p100/head) and then a trike up to the jump off point (p250/head) 🥴. Follow the same way back. Start early at 4/5am
Wear covered shoes!!! Trail is extremely slippery at parts especially after rain. Shoes might get soaked in the river but any other footwear will make it hard to climb rocks/steep terrain.
There is an option to go tubing for 45 mins down the river for p400/head. It’s a bit ex but do this if you can!! It’s a great way to see and experience the river.
Some trikes will try to convince you to ride from the river to the jump off point. It is actually a very walkable distance so you can avoid this ride and save some money if you wish. You might hav to ask a local for directions along the way but they are usually more than willing to help.
If you are in a group of 2 or less, consider joining another group to save cost on the tour guide fee (p500). One tour guide can take up...
Read moreI recently visited the Tinipak River in Daraitan, Tanay, and was utterly disappointed. The experience was marred by exorbitant and unjustified fees levied by the local government and organizations. It felt like a blatant scam targeting tourists.
The most egregious issue was the mandatory 500-peso fee for a tour guide, even for locals! This is unacceptable, especially considering that Tinipak River is a supposedly public, national area. It's highway robbery disguised as a "tour." The "tour" itself offered little value, providing minimal information and guidance.
Beyond the mandatory guide fee, other hidden costs emerged throughout the visit. The overall cost far exceeded the value received. The facilities were inadequate and poorly maintained, further adding to the sense of being ripped off.
I strongly advise tourists to reconsider visiting Tinipak River. The blatant disregard for visitors and the excessive fees make it a thoroughly unpleasant experience. There are many other beautiful destinations in the Philippines that offer better value and respect for their guests. Save your money and your time; this place is not worth it. Spread the word – don't let them scam you! #DaraitanScam #TinipakRiverRipoff...
Read moreRun away! I've never seen something like that, they charge all the time! We wanted to go to a camping place and finally we didn't reach it. I'll try to explain it due of even them doesn't know how much it cost to go there (I guess just they charge you what they want): first you will pay for crossing the bridge - 30 pesos for motorbike ( more if is a car), then you need to go to the barangay to pay 100 pesos per person. They will make you park there for 100 pesos and ride a tricicle (more money) and you need to have guide to go everywhere, that will be 700 pesos or 500 it depends on how they feel. You need a guide to go to the river (20 minutes path) to go to the mountain (They only one I'm agree with) and to reach the camping place we were going. Then the entrance to the river is 70 pesos, from there you follow the path and they will charge you 50 pesos more and just few meters after they will charge you 70 pesos more. That's only to reach the camping place and I don't even know if is nice or not, because I haven't reached it. Beside that, the place is not interesting at all, just a river, there are a lot in Philippines. Please, don't support that kind of behaviour, it only feeds corruption...
