Aw-Asen Falls — Attraction in Ilocos Sur

Aw Asen Falls is hands down the best falls I’ve ever been to! Mala-Encantadia ang lugar—super enchanting and peaceful, parang you’re stepping into another world. We went there using motor rental, and the road to the jump-off point from La Union took almost 2 hours. May 45-minute uphill na sobrang challenging, especially since we didn’t have a guide going there. Kaya we made sure to be extra careful, lalo na nung pauwi kasi downhill na and we had to make sure our brakes were still working.

Once we got to the jump-off, there’s another 45-minute trek pababa to the falls, and grabe, literal na nginig tuhod! It’s steep and slippery, kaya talagang need to be cautious. But pagdating mo sa falls, all the effort is worth it. The water is super clear, and it’s so refreshing. The surrounding nature adds to the peaceful vibe of the place, making it perfect for unwinding.

Highly recommended place to visit, but make sure to go on weekdays. Sobrang daming joiners from different organizations na pumupunta dito, sabi ng tour guide namin minsan umaabot daw ng 30 minutes to 1 hour just to wait for your turn to take a picture on the iconic spot. We went on a weekday, and literally, picture-all-you-can kami ng partner ko since sobrang konti ng tao.

Since we went there using motor, naging super budget-friendly siya compared to joining a group tour. I think we only spent around 800 pesos each for the whole trip, which is way cheaper than the usual joiner groups!

The tour guide was also super friendly and entertaining, making our trip even more fun and memorable! But be mindful, sometimes matanda na yung tour guide mo so dont expect them to be a good photographer. Overall, Aw Asen Falls is definitely a hidden gem and a must-see if you’re in La Union or...
