Mama's Kitchen & Sinamay House is one of the best-preserved old houses in Iloilo City along with its neighboring Camiña Balay na Bato. I remembered way back in 2019, there used to be a tall evergreen tree which looked like a Christmas tree beside the house. We also had the chance to talk with the nice lady owner. We bought a beautiful sinamay shawl from her shop aside from cookies at their store. I love their mango chewies. The more than a century old house is well-maintained and clean with antiques on display, including a vintage car and a caroza for religious procession. The handweaving loom for hablon and sinamay is at the ground floor. Outside the house is a spacious lawn with a nearby kitchen where their sought after delectable cookies are baked and packed.

The Arevalo Sinamay House is owned by Mrs. Cecilia Gison Villanueva. This home industry established by her great grandfather still operates today. Located at Osmeña St. Arevalo, Iloilo City, where jusi (banana fiber) and piña (pieapple fiber) cloths are loom-woven. Tourists can go visit Sinamay Dealer in Osmeña St., Arevalo, to buy their sought after handmade textiles. However when we visited it seems it was closed.

Quality handwoven pina shawls, and hablon barong. Also colorful embroidered dusters and caftans. The caftan sizes are on the large side though. Mother's yummy cookies are available too. Appreciate that the sales staff still wear their Leni-Kiko T shirts. Let's support KakamPINK businesses like...
