Went here last May 8-9 through GL's Leisure Travel & Tours, a homestay accommodation and tour guide by a local resident on Buscalan. They offer the most comfortable homestay, most generous meals from breakfast to merienda to dinner and unlimited free coffee all day. That's right their coffee is FREE and UNLIMITED! Their tour is well organized and affordable, not to mention that they can secure you a schedule with Apo Whang Od to get her signature 3-dot tattoo. Mind you, not all the tourists who go there are given the opportunity to get inked by the legend herself that's why I am really thankful I got to book my travel with LG's Leisure Travel & Tours. The people in Buscalan are also very friendly and hospitable. Apo Whang Od's descendants are very young but they will definitely give you quality tattoos as well! I got a triple fern design on my left upper arm, this symbolizes Fertility, Strength, Health, Safe Passage to the Land of the Dead. It was indeed a memorable experience and I am definitely going back along with my friends. I went there as a joiner and met new friends, too! I highly recommend Buscalan for a breathe of fresh air and to know more of our rich...
Read moreThis place is so overrated. Busculan don't share their culture, they sell it. They will squeeze money with whatever service that's provided, especially if you're a foreigner. It seems the fame had gotten into the people's heads. They now charge 1.5kphp/day for a tour guide! You don't even need a guide to be honest, the distance from jump-off point to the village is just 1km more or less, and there's a clear pathway leading up, with paved steps and railings. I mean, I don't mind paying to help out, but 1.5k is too much for something I can do on my own; it's borderline swindling. Go get your tattoo at your own risk. I opted out. I personally didn't feel safe having a 90+ year old do it for me. Plus, traditional tattoo seems unsanitary, using the same needle each...
