February 23 2023= we visited cabra lighthouse via tagbac port. One alternate route would be binakas port but due to strong tides,we opted for tagbac port. The banka ride via tagbac port is 30mins to cabra island. It is not possible to walk or trek to cabra lighthouse because it will be a long hot trek so we rented a chariot or trike as per our guide named edwin. The chariot we rented was able to accomodate our 6 pax group and 2 golden retrievers. Before heading to cabra lighthouse, we made a detour to a chapel where locals claim that virgin mary appeared. Anyway, when we reached cabra lighthouse,my first impression was its architecture spanish and not well preserved. I asked our guide if local government was taking steps in rehabilitating the lighthouse but he said no. In my opinion, the lighthouse is sacred and very solemn so i hope local government can rehabilitate the place before the wood starts falling or the main lighthouse gets super dilapidated because prior pandemic,tourists can climb the lighthouse but during our visit,it was already prohibited. Overall, cabra lighthouse is a must visit destination if you visit lubang island. It may be a rough and hot trip but worth every experience 💯💯
