A Climb Towards Grace: My Memories of Kamay ni Hesus Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon, stands as a vibrant testament to faith, healing, and devotion. For me, living here in Nasugbu, Batangas, it's a destination that has always called to me, promising both spiritual solace and a challenging, yet rewarding, journey. It’s a place where the physical act of climbing mirrors the spiritual ascent, and where countless memories have been forged amidst its unique landscape. My earliest awareness of Kamay ni Hesus came through word-of-mouth – stories of miraculous healings, the iconic towering statue of the Resurrected Christ, and the famous "healing priest," Father Joey Faller. The idea of a place dedicated to healing, especially one so visually striking, piqued my curiosity. My first visit was driven by a mix of spiritual seeking and an eagerness to witness this renowned pilgrimage site firsthand. I remember the drive from Nasugbu, tracing through scenic routes that eventually led us into the charming, laid-back town of Lucban. The initial sight of the large, open-air church and the towering figure of Christ on the hill immediately made an impression. The history of Kamay ni Hesus is deeply intertwined with the ministry of Father Joey Faller, a healing priest. It began as a humble prayer mountain, driven by his vision to create a sanctuary where people could experience healing, spiritual renewal, and a deeper connection with God. The construction of the various components, including the Healing Church, the Stations of the Cross leading up to the Resurrected Christ statue, and other devotional areas, started in the early 2000s and has continued to expand over the years. It truly is a project born out of faith and dedication, built for the benefit of the multitude of pilgrims who flock there. The most vivid memory, and indeed the core experience of Kamay ni Hesus for many, is the ascent of the "Via Dolorosa," the winding stairs depicting the Stations of the Cross that lead up to the colossal statue of the Resurrected Christ. I remember the initial anticipation, the steady climb, each station offering a moment for reflection and prayer. It’s a physically demanding journey, especially under the hot sun, but the shared purpose among the pilgrims – some barefoot, some carrying burdens, all with faces etched with devotion – creates an almost palpable sense of communal faith. Reaching the summit, breathless but filled with a sense of accomplishment, and standing at the feet of the majestic Christ statue, gazing out at the panoramic view of the lush Quezon landscape, is a truly profound moment. It feels like a miniature pilgrimage within the larger journey of faith. Beyond the climb, I have fond memories of attending the healing masses in the main church. The energy is always incredible – a sea of people united in prayer, hope, and often, gratitude. I remember witnessing Father Joey Faller lead the service, his passion and spiritual conviction evident in every word, and seeing the palpable relief on faces during the healing prayers. The souvenir shops, with their array of religious items and local Lucban delicacies, also hold their own charm, providing a tangible reminder of the spiritual journey. Kamay ni Hesus is more than just a pilgrimage site; it’s a living testament to faith's power to inspire and heal. For me, coming from Nasugbu, it represents a spiritual escape, a place where the physical effort of the climb translates into spiritual solace, and where countless memories of hope, devotion, and shared faith continue to unfold. It’s a place I will undoubtedly return to, each visit reinforcing its unique significance in my...

I recently visited Kamay ni Hesus, and it turned out to be a remarkable spiritual retreat. Here's why I'm giving it a solid four-star rating:

Serene and Peaceful Atmosphere: Kamay ni Hesus is nestled in a serene and peaceful environment, surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful landscapes. The tranquil atmosphere immediately creates a sense of calm and relaxation, allowing visitors to connect with their spirituality and find solace.

Captivating Shrine and Gardens: The centerpiece of Kamay ni Hesus is the awe-inspiring shrine and gardens. The 50-foot statue of the Risen Christ stands as a remarkable symbol of faith and hope. Exploring the meticulously manicured gardens and the Stations of the Cross path is a profound experience, encouraging reflection and prayer.

Healing and Spiritual Renewal: One of the highlights of Kamay ni Hesus is the opportunity for healing and spiritual renewal. The site is known for its healing masses and the "Walkway to Heaven," a steep climb up the hill leading to the Risen Christ statue. Many people have testified to experiencing a sense of peace, comfort, and even physical healing during their visit.

Welcoming and Supportive Staff: The staff at Kamay ni Hesus were friendly, approachable, and ready to assist visitors. They provided information about the site, answered questions, and ensured a smooth and pleasant experience for everyone. Their warmth and genuine hospitality added to the overall positive atmosphere of the place.

However, it's worth noting that due to the popularity of Kamay ni Hesus, it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. This may detract from the serene ambiance and make certain areas a bit congested. To fully appreciate the tranquility, I recommend visiting during weekdays or quieter periods.

In conclusion, Kamay ni Hesus offers a meaningful and spiritual experience for those seeking solace, healing, and a deeper connection with their faith. The serene atmosphere, captivating shrine and gardens, and supportive staff make it a destination worth visiting. Despite the potential crowd, the overall experience of spiritual retreat and reflection at Kamay ni Hesus is...

I am an atheist so understandably you won't get any comment on spiritual euphoria with me.

That big giant statue on the top of the climb is really huge and at a wrong angle it made me a little too optimistic of climbing the stairs without a sweat. Standing on the foot of those steps and woah, the distance on the way up will dawn on you.

Since I am already in this attraction this side of Quezon province I might as well climb. The route going up is made to be in a zigzag fashion, climb up a level go left, another level go right, and so on. Serves the purpose of going through replicas of the stations of the cross (at least I think they were stations of the cross). And as commented by a colleague also in the climb it also serves the purpose of providing you some respite from the straight up.

Go horizontally and flat to catch a breather because you’re gonna your lungs in good condition again going up. There are guard rails per level to ensure the zigzag climb. It may function also as crowd control which as mentioned in some reviews here might be a problem on holy week.

Just to be on the safe side I don’t recommend this those with heart problems or bad knees. If you have senior citizen family members carry with you an enormous amount of patience because you have to wait, maybe even make them stop every level just to make sure they have rested enough to get to the next one.

That being said I wonder if the establishment has any protocols for medical emergencies.

Religious or not one can feel a sense of accomplishment once reaching the top. You can see the surrounding plains of Quezon all around. Personally that very day I think I was just happy thinking I burned all my lunch calories away.

Going down was harder than I looks. At the back of my mind I always wondered if my legs are gonna give. They were just tired going up. Instead of the strain of pulling your body weight up you are actually stopping a fall every step. Just hang on to the rails and you’ll be fine.

Also in the compound is one building made to look like Noah’s Ark. I didn’t have enough legs in me to check it out,...
