"The Abbey of Transfiguration is not just a place, it's a feeling. It's a feeling of peace, of joy, of belonging. It's a feeling that stays with you long after you leave."
The architecture is stunning, blending modern and traditional Filipino elements. The chapel is particularly impressive, with its triangular shape and beautiful stained glass windows. The altar made of solid narra wood is also a work of art.

The facade gave me a sense of reflection. The entire place allowed inner contemplation.
Center of the solemn atmosphere is the pyramid church structure surrounded by nature. There is an astonishing view of the landscape. The interior is as humbling as the outdoor ambiance. It is built with wooden ceilings, hardwood seats, and glass doors. Everything is simply put together in a very minimalistic approach. The church observes proper attire and it's important to avoid wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts in entering the Monastery.
The Benedictine Monks established a souvenir shop for religious articles. It is the same store that supply the finest coffee in the province also popularized as the Monk's Blend. There are other local delicacies available at an affordable price.
The best souvenir that every traveler can receive here is the opportunity for momentary stillness. A visit to the Monastery is a great break away from the city, a serene place to meditate and veer away from the noise of daily life.

Read moreThe memorable highlight of our trip to Bukidnon was visiting the Monastery of Transfiguration. It was an hour and a half ride from the 1st Kiokong Rock Climbing Festival we attended but making the time to visit this place was truly worth it. It is one thing to see photos but the place indeed offers a unique and calming effect. We often take silence and quiet reflection for granted but this place is an ideal place to emphasize the physical and spiritual benefits of meditation. For tourists it offers not just the chance to visit an iconic church shaped pyramid made by National Artist Leandro Locsin but get to bring home Monks Blend Brewed coffee that this place is so famous for. It was a quick trip but we definitely intend to visit this place again and hopefully get a chance this time to book a room for a quiet retreat meet Benedictine nuns and monks and this time really immerse ourselves...
