I spent almost 7 hours( 1 MRT, 1 LRT, 2 buses, 1 tricycle, 1 boat) from Manila Metro to get to the Patungan Fishing Village on the island and it's worth!!
I started my trip around 3PM. After 1 MRT, 1 LRT to came to Cubao. We took 2 buses to came to Maragondon ( sorry if I'm wrong cause I'm not local 😅 ) then we took the tricycle from there to the port around 9PM. The tricycle was just a little bit scary because It was dark outside and we couldn't see anything but just the road in front of us , also tricycle-rider rode too fast because the distance is really far from the bus drop to the port.
After that we took the boat from the port to the island. The sky there was really cinematic at night because you can see full-of-stars on the sky together with the mountain, the other island. Even though we couldn't see anything (again) but instead of that disadvantage, we focused on the sky that night. After around 20-30 mins on the boat, we finally came to the fish village within the island.
The accommodation is not really high quality because that island is not promoting for vacation destination. And they don't have the water system yet, they use the mountain steam and get the water from that and the electricity as well. It's black-out normally there.
If you're looking for the peaceful island with the beach, the view of mountains, sea, and you can go around the other island nearby so this place is the place you can consider within the short time because you can at least see the marvelous islands is created by nature, the sun, the sand, the sea is really crystal-clear.
That's all for the Patungan fishing village, from my point of view. The back routes is just the same as coming routes.
Hope you can...
Read moreThis was once a small fishing community but after the tunnel was constructed, the fisher folks were relocated. There are now plans to develop the place and this has resulted into displacement of the locals. There is a private guard here now and there is violence that erupts when the locals try to move in again.
There is a place nearby called patungan munti which has white sand due to corals washed up but that is also a private and closed place now.
No facilities here except for some huts and the rest rooms are those left by the previous inhabitants. There is a deepwell here for fresh water but not that safe for drinking. Not sure what happened to the...
Read moreThe garbage from Manila and Bataan usually finds its way in Patungan beach but the locals puts an effort to clean the beach daily. Aside from that the locals are also very hospitable. Look for Ate Sally she even gives out dried sapsap for free. Aside from that, her son is also a boatman that which services you could rent to bring you to Carabao Island. This beach is also a few kilometers away from Kabiang Tunnel. Sadly, going here is a challenge if you don't have a car as there are no transportation system yet. You can only visit it if you have a car or if you rent a trike...
