I found Initao when I Google: "Where to go birdwatching in Iligan City" and I'm glad I found it. It was breathtaking. My only regret: I should have stayed the whole day and then, I should have come back the next day. We walked the trail around the park. We had with us, in our party, a senior citizen and his wheelchair had no problems going on the trail even if the trail climbed steeply in some places. I found (and took pictures of) a Chestnut Munia, a Magpie Robin, an Asian Glossy Starling and a White-Eared Brown Dove. There was a moorhen, but I was not quick enough with my camera. Initao has no sandy beach. It has a pebbly and rocky shore - - with the water crystal clear. They say monkeys from the hillside park across the highway often swing to Initao UT I did not see any of them there when I had the pleasure of visiting Initao. Huge boulders on the cliff facing the sea are pock marked, giving testimony to the unrelenting violence of the waves that crash against them. The breeze is cool even when the air is humid under the trees - - Initao is, after all, a rain forest. I breathe in, only crickets disturbed the stillness. I looked up, the trees there were probably older than me. And then, there was the sea, endless, blue, and serene. You really should...
Read moreOne of the best places to visit in Misamis Oriental. I went here alone and enjoyed the serene environment. Good place for a long walk. The park is well-kept. You will see different animals - monkeys, monitor lizards, and different types of birds. You can also go down to the sea. The shore is a bit rocky so snorkeling or swimming alone is not advised. A good place for kids to explore nature. Entrance is 15pesos per person. Other activities available for a fee (snorkeling, boat ride, etc). Recommended for solo travellers, couples (for romantic dates), big groups, families, and kids. Good for elderly and differently abled too. Ample parking....
Read moreIt is good to be lost at a forest kept for several years so generations to come can still experience what it feels like to be in virgin forest. Hopefully, the efforts of the LGU will pay off. There is an ongoing development in some parts of the area but stilk manageable.
The entrance is kind of uneven though with protruding stones in the alley so if you are a hatchback user, it might be a challenge, but still manageable.
And what I like about this place? It has a secret beach with amazing views of the cliffs and sea rocks. Not for that faints, but surely a view to...
